don't know if anyone else posted this, but it's being shown that AZ cut Herman Johnson, the mammoth that came from LSU.

i don't know how he's done, even living in Phoenix i didn't hear much about him, but then again all the talk has been about Leinart.

any interest there? i remember he was discussed a lot during that draft.

No interest from me. I had put him on my undraftable list that year and stand by it. He's too tall to play guard and allows defenders to get under his pads. He doesn't slide well or pick up stunting linemen. He can get some push in the running game but would prefer to push his guy all the way down the field rather than knock him to the ground and find someone else. I'd pass but...

It took the Cardinals five years to give up on Leinart, so if they gave up on Johnson in one year, what does that tell you.

Keep in mind that an Original Hog is on the AZ staff. I'm sure he knows a thing or two about what makes a good OL. Apparently he didn't think much of Herm.

Well how long did it take them to give up that big left tackle out of Texas they drafted out of the 1st round? I can't remember his name.....Leonard.....something?:)

They actually have a poor line and are going with an old Faneca and an over weight Luitui. Just today they also traded their starting guard to the Eagles.

There has been speculation in Arizona that being friendly with Faneca has actually undermined their ability to cut or even bench him.

Well, he fits the huge fat slob type that Houck seems to love. :cool:

Seriously, I don't know, he might be worth a look. [/cowboyjoe]

He's the biggest baby ever born in the state of Louisiana! How could you miss with credentials like that!

Yea, he's a long, long, long, long term project at best. He's huge but as I was telling one of his supporters before the draft who thought the Cowboys should pick in the 3rd round, he's slow, he's soft, and he's flabby. If we're complaining about how " weak " Robert Brewster has looked at times because of him getting pushed back, well, imagined Brewester only 4 inches taller, about 30lbs heavier, softer AND slower..

i posted some articles about him if your asking me about him cl

here is what main draft mags say;

but first remember cowboys are going more athletic type linemen, the big braulers cowboys are staying away from now

herman johnson positives;
has rare size with a huge big boned frame, natural girth, huge hands, (in other words another player like leonard bigg davis)and 36 1/2 inch arms, Good strength and can smash defenders, but here comes the rub, in 160 snaps only had 25 knockdowns, a player of that size and power should have had more knockdowns.

negatives; not agile, just like bigg leonard, and has struggled to control weight, has gotten up close to 400 pounds, (another play like the williams kid from texas that ate himself out of pro ball, one drafted by buffalo), Lacks foot quickness, struggles to pull, not a finisher, (lack of nasty disposition on offensive line?)

so in other words,this player is kinda like nate newton, that went undrafted, to Commanders and then we picked him up, but was way overweight, when landry coached him, then when jimmy johnson coached newton, jimmy pushed the dog out of nate, and got the talent out;

herman johnson needs that type of coach, but was you know, wade isnt that type of coach;

Nate was a player in the USFL before he got to the NFL.

i know he was in usfl, but was also on Commanders roster, got cut, and cowboys signed him

nate said so

Is Hermann still PS eligible? If so, that is the safest place to give him another shot.
