An NFL running back at 52 years old?

[URL='http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/6480/herschel-walker']Herschel Walker
says it wouldn't be a problem for him.

"I can play in the NFL today," Walker told USA Today Sports. "I couldn't take every snap. But running backs nowadays don't play every down. Now they send in the choir section.

"Physically, I can still do it."
Walker, who said he's busy with several business ventures, isn't thinking of a comeback.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame website lists Jim Thorpe at 40 as the oldest running back to play in an NFL game. Thorpe played his last down for the Chicago Cardinals in 1928.

I'm sure he is in better shape than a lot of current players today. He was dedicated to working out big time.

I'd like to see him try doing what he thinks he can, then sit back with some popcorn and watch the show. Might be interesting.

I do think he was the one of the very best and purest athletes in history.

Yes, he is a true athletic freak.

I wouldn't be shocked if he could function as a kick returner right now.

Here is a guarantee. On Walker's 3rd carry which equates to 3 yards and a cloud of dust, (given the O-line actually blocks and does not get blown up in the backfield) he blows out his ACL and PCL, while tearing his bicep and rupturing his 52 yr old, left, testicle. No thanks Hershel. Stick to your "out-of-football-endeavors".

Absolutely saw some killer games from you back in the day, but better remember you for what you brought to Dallas via the infamous trade to Minny! Thanks buddy. Carry on.

I don't remember Walker ever having injury problems and he fights MMA against much younger opponents.
