It doesn't matter what his age is, he's lost the only thing that gave him an edge, speed. So exactly how is he going to get better? Now his game will have to be played from the neck up as a pocket QB and he doesn't exactly have a proven track record at being successfull at that.
I somewhat agree... As I said before, I'm not a fan of his... However, regardless of whether or not he gets better, I would contend that he's already better than Cassel. I'm not making a case for Griffin as a potential QB of the future, as I also stated previously, I don't think he'll ever be a franchise QB... But as far as backup QB's go, you could do a lot worse than Griffin.
Cassel has a career QBR of 79.8
Griffin has a career QBR of 90.6
Cassel's career YPA is 6.7
Griffin's career YPA is 7.6
Cassel's career TD/INT ratio is 97 TD 73 INT
Griffin's career TD/INT ration is 40 TD 23 INT
Cassel in the NFL since 2005 with 73 career starts
Griffin in the NFL since 2012 with 35 career starts
Griffin hasn't really played up to his stats, but none the less, you have to admit they're still quite gaudy when put into context... A 2/1 TD to INT ratio? That's always nice... And I guess he hasn't played enough games to qualify for Pro Football Reference's career QBR rankings, but his career QBR of 90.6 would rank him #12 all-time just below Matt Ryan at 91.0.
That said, Griffin wouldn't want to go anywhere that he wont at least get to compete for the starting job. And I still think the Commanders are foolish to prefer Cousins over Griffin.
