As do I. Bring RG here and let him learn under Romo. Not a better guy to learn under. Get to see his work habits, learn how to study film, and no longer being coddled by an owner with no accountability.

Ah, I see you've been talking to someone we both know.

I wouldn't mind RG3 as a backup, as long as he knew his place and was cheap. Griffin doesn't really suck, he's not a franchise QB, but I do think he's slightly better than Cassel, and at only 25yo, he still has the potential to get better... I don't want to come across as a Griffin lover, because I never really believed he was the real deal, and I'm just not much of a fan of his... That said, there's not very many backup QB's who are better than Griffin... As a general rule of thumb, especially in this QB driven league, the backup QB is always going to suck when compared to any franchise QB...

The "media circus" factor doesn't really affect the Cowboys the way it does other teams (so long as the player doesn't inflame it), because with the Cowboys the media is going to make a circus out of something every year, which Jerry loves...

It doesn't matter what his age is, he's lost the only thing that gave him an edge, speed. So exactly how is he going to get better? Now his game will have to be played from the neck up as a pocket QB and he doesn't exactly have a proven track record at being successfull at that.

I somewhat agree... As I said before, I'm not a fan of his... However, regardless of whether or not he gets better, I would contend that he's already better than Cassel. I'm not making a case for Griffin as a potential QB of the future, as I also stated previously, I don't think he'll ever be a franchise QB... But as far as backup QB's go, you could do a lot worse than Griffin.

Cassel has a career QBR of 79.8
Griffin has a career QBR of 90.6

Cassel's career YPA is 6.7
Griffin's career YPA is 7.6

Cassel's career TD/INT ratio is 97 TD 73 INT
Griffin's career TD/INT ration is 40 TD 23 INT

Cassel in the NFL since 2005 with 73 career starts
Griffin in the NFL since 2012 with 35 career starts

Griffin hasn't really played up to his stats, but none the less, you have to admit they're still quite gaudy when put into context... A 2/1 TD to INT ratio? That's always nice... And I guess he hasn't played enough games to qualify for Pro Football Reference's career QBR rankings, but his career QBR of 90.6 would rank him #12 all-time just below Matt Ryan at 91.0.

That said, Griffin wouldn't want to go anywhere that he wont at least get to compete for the starting job. And I still think the Commanders are foolish to prefer Cousins over Griffin.

Not really. The context I put them into is this, He will never be the same player he was in his rookie year and his TD/INT the last 2 years is 20/18. If you saw Griffin play last year you would know why the Commanders are playing Cousins now.

Again, I'm not arguing whether or not he'll ever be that same player again... What I'm contending is that as a backup QB, Griffin is still better than Matt Cassel... Agree or disagree?

You mentioned Griffin's TD/INT ratio over his last 20 starts was a mediocre 20/18... But look at Matt Cassel's last 20 starts, 21 TD's 28 INT's.

Probably not. I trust Cassel to read a defense better than Griffin. Either way were talking about a backup QB and you are pretty much cooked if they see a lot playing time.
