He's not Ray Lewis, but Zach Thomas will do...

You guys know I have been calling for a no-nonsense, all business leader for this team. At the beginning of the off season I suggested Ray Lewis...but Zach Thomas will do just fine. His preparation, his focus, his intensity will help all of the guys on this defense translate their superior physical skills into domination. Think about it...Zach is the least imposing physical guy we will have...but he will get all of our muscle bound freaks to become mentally tougher. What happened at the end of the 1st half against the Giants is the result of mental midgets. That scoring drive just cannot happen. Especially on a stage like the one we were on.

As I look at the offense, again I see a lack of leadership. Tony has the contract and the talent to be the leader of the offense. But it starts this offseason...and he has to stop subscribing to the theory that he is a normal guy that wants to be the same person he always was. A leader, especially at QB, has to carry himself like he is elite. That is the way you get people to follow you. The perception, whether he likes it or not...is that he is eating the cheese. He has to stop giving people that impression.

Ray has been a great linebacker and arguably one of the best ever, especially in his prime, but I would rather have the Texas boy, call me particular, but I don't care...

I just can't see Ray Lewis with a brand new team commanding his dogs in Texas Stadium, I don't think that would fly.

Dear Beetlejuice: Zach is no Ray Lewis.
And we are so glad.
I fully agree with your adminishment to Romo to step up and be the Troy the team needs.

However, the first part of your thoughtful post I fully disgree with. (Yes my syntax needs work but I am a junior college transfer and I never learnt to write good. So, theogt no need to mail me nasty personal messages about my inability to write because not everybody has had a head injury like me. )

As for yer premise, beetlejuice, about Zach being a team leader, etc., we have coaches for that. If zach wants to be a coach, keen and swell.
But we are overloaded on LBs with leadership qualities and what we didn't need was a possible $3 million man who is slow, old, short and has concussion problems.

Having said that, it is a done deal. So we are on the same page for now: I hope Zach lives up to his BIG payout from Jerra and I hope he has a great year. He might be old, short, slow and head-injured, but he'll be OUR old, short, slow, head-injury guy.
Go Zach!

Should Dallas be spending money on our FA's...instead of old LB's?

Just wondering what our priorities are at the moment.

He'll be the only white guy on defense, outside of the occasional Justin Rogers sighting, lol.

that's awsome if he becomes a leader on the team but I want him to be a play maker as well and I don't think he can be. I see him being a great run stopper because of his size and awareness but god forbid that he has to cover someone.....

But on the other hand, compared to Zach, Roy Williams will seem like a greyhound!
