I'm rewatching the game and couldn't help noticing... with 56 seconds left, 4th down, we're punting the football back to Philly... why didn't we bring the playclock all the way down to 1 second, then call a timeout and punt? Instead, the ball was snapped with 6 seconds left on the playclock, essentially saving Philly 5 seconds.

It didn't end up making a difference, but why would we hand them an extra 5 seconds when they have no timeouts and are trying to get into FG range with less than a minute left??? 5 seconds is essentially 1 extra play to try to move closer than our 42, and get an easier FG try than the 60 yarder they were forced to attempt.

Dumb clock management on our part there, I wonder who's to blame.

Good observation. I would like to know the answer to that one myself.

could have been huge if that pass inside the 20 was complete. They would have to get down there and spike it with probably under 6 seconds...could have been the ballgame.

I thought the same thing while watching the game last night, NAV. I was pi$$ed when they sanpped the ball that quickly.

I noticed that too -- I can see saving the TO but why not let the clock go to 1?

Who calls for the snap on that? The punter or the upback? Whoever it is screwed up.

I was thinking the same thing. I started yelling *** are you doing when they hiked the ball. I knew for sure they would run it down and call a TO or take the delay of game. Like you said...Dumb clock management on our part there.

Great observation......some of you folks amaze me reading these posts and reflecting upon the game.......hell, CrazyCowboy was too dang nervous to notice that much detail.....great job!

I dropped a biscuit on that pass play - for a quick second it damn sure look like he had caught it.

Same here. I was thinking the same thing, but I glad it didn't matter in the end.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I've gotten accustomed to a few "head scratchers" every game.

It seems like no matter how brilliant the coach, and staff (of any team) you can always count on a few plays every game that make damn near no sense.

I was on the phone with my wife and I started *****ing about the wasted 5 or 6 seconds left on the play clock when the Cowboys punted. I hoped it would not come to bite us in the butt with those extra seconds.

Did they mention it in the commentary? I had the game on mute so I woudn't know.

If they had run off those 5 seconds, the eagles would not have had the opportunity to even attempt the last FG (there was 4 seconds left). That would have at least spared me some anxiety.

I knew we didn't call a TO, but I didn't realize we snapped the ball that early. Hmmm...

I imagine Cowboys fans all over the country were saying the same thing. We had the timeouts, use one.
