The genius coaching hire(s) of Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer

Should have paid KMoore the $$$$
If Kellen Moore is still an NFL head coach in 3 years or even an OC in 5 years, than he has naked pics of people doing bad things to children. IMO, he's very over rated and actually just isn't very good even as an OC. In the years since he became an OC I haven't once thought, wow he is actually really good at this job. But for some reason he got anointed by the media as the next great thing. I don't see it, at all.

I have stated that I'm digging the vibes that Shotty is bringing to the team. I think JJ may have jsut stumbled onto something. Time will tell.
But to the OPs point, he has made some fantastic staff hires. Adams being first and foremost. This guy gets it and will make this team much better in the run game.
And I think Flus will greatly improve the defense, especially the run defense over Zimmers crew last year.

In football, a head coach relies heavily on his assistants, who play a crucial role in various aspects of the team. Assistants provide support, expertise, and leadership in areas like game planning, player development, and recruiting. While the head coach ultimately leads the team and makes final decisions, the assistants are integral to the team's and head coach's success.

In this thread, we will discuss new Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer's first and extremely critical coaching hire in Offensive Coordinator Klayton Adams...

nice find. Thanks for posting

I think they’ve decided to play out with Dak.

Losing Rush and Lance leaves us no choice.
As I said, Dak's contract means any meaningful rebuild is at least ten years away.
Both Jerry and Dak have to be gone before things will start to improve.

this was a gutsy and great move by Philly
What? When they got rid of him he had just crashed and burned and seemingly never recovered (mentally or physically who knows?) from his injury. No one thought they would get back what they did for him with that contract. Great yes. Gutsy absolutely not.

It's honestly hard not to get excited about this guy, and I look forward to what he brings to the team. I am a bit concerned though about how when he was promoted the line took such a huge step back. What exactly is his role going to be here?

I am.not anointing him anything. It has to be proven.

My suspicion is there will be semi success in year 1, little struggle year 2 and then it goes down hill since Jerry will continue to meddle and make changes that he feels are going to make a difference.

Just like other hires, since they happen after things go bad, Jerry tends to make some moves and feel like he did his part. He stays out of it for one year. We see semi success. Then he middles to put team over the top and starts to screw things up. This would be the 5th time...

will jerry still do his mini post game pressers? you know where he gives his initial thoughts on the game and provides us with injury updates?

Shoddy is providing hope…because fans have yet to see the failure. Every rookie is stud this time of year.

Look, I doubt he will be downright awful, but he isn’t going to provide miracles either. He isn’t going to overcome the Jerry factor and the thing that eventually causes this years team’s downfall will probably have much more to do with something beyond his control….like not having the right personnel to stop the run.

This front office continues to not do their job well and pin it on the coaches. Guess that’s not news.

This video below is a more deep dive conversation tied in to my opening post. It's a conversation between host, Footsdaking, and the video creator, Will "Skywalker" Steele. Steele goes even more in depth into Coach Shotty's past, his limits/restrictions working for different teams and why, plus his first few years here in Dallas under McCarthy and how McCarthy held him back, and finally, how Coach Schottenheimer as new head coach can finally implement his decade's built up philosophy and how it led to his first big hire in O-Coordinator Klayton Adams.

Very interesting and informative 30 minute video. Check it out. Enjoy...
