He tore his meniscus at the combine BUT he'll be OK by training camp. 3rd round possible for this guy or won't he last that long?

LB Jason Phillips revealed at TCU’s pro day Friday morning that he has a torn meniscus in his left knee, an injury that he believes he suffered at the scouting combine last month.
Phillips, who underwent surgery on Wednesday, is expected to be on crutches for the next eight weeks and in rehabilitation for another four weeks. That takes him well beyond the draft and into minicamps, but he should be ready for training camp.
Phillips’ numbers at the combine were exceptional, so it shouldn’t affect his standing too much in the draft. In Indianapolis two weeks ago, he ran the fifth-fastest 40-yard dash (4.69 seconds), was sixth in the broad jump (10-0) and finished eighth in the 20-yard shuttle (4.32 seconds).
Phillips is the No. 3 inside linebacker on Mike Mayock’s list of top draft prospects.

I was thinking that after his injury and that the full re-hab is going to take a couple of months, plus with the risk involved in rehabbing any injury, maybe we can get him in the 4th or early 5th round now.

Not sure if that's too unreasonable.

Brandt says in the article:

I like Gil and respect his opinion too, so it doesn't sound like he'd be around in the 4th Woods; but I'm no draft expert. Alot of guys on here follow it more closely, so that is why I posted this. Normally I'm not enamored with drafting a guy who gets hurt: but a meniscus isn't that serious so...........who knows.

This will drastically drop his stock. Teams are going to want him in mini-camp. He was a 3rd rounder before..now you can bet he can be had in the 5th.

Hope so....maybe we could snag him. I'll split the difference Slate: that's why I said in my original post maybe we could get him in the 4th. Hey, a meniscus isn't too serious, and he had already put up good numbers. Time will tell, but the guy could be a nice get in the 4th or 5th IMO....slight but worthwhile gamble ...........

I've always been a fan of Jason Phillips. His toughness, mental and physical, are exactly what this team needs. 3rd, 4th, or 5th round doesn't matter to me as long as we nab him up.

Plenty of talk about him in the draft zone. Some of us have been fans for a long time now. ;)

And the meniscus tear shouldn't hurt his stock much, if at all.

He'll go within the first fifteen picks of the 4th round.

Him, DeAndre Levy or that Georgia guy seem like good fits for the Wade 3-4.

Canty's injuries was a little more serious, but people still thought he would go in the 2nd round.(4th instead) So you never know especially for a guy that was a mid rounder before the injury.
