My "Windows Update" wants to install Service Pack 3. I want to create a restore point before I let it install. However, I cannot find where to create a new restore point. I looked in Control Panel/System/System Restore but that only gives me an on/off option; not the ability to create a restore point at will.

Should I be worried about installing service pack 3 without creating a restore point? Would a restore point help anyway if something goes wrong?

I've been intending to get a large external hard drive so I can do full system backups, but haven't done it yet. I wish I had it now.

Can anyone help?

I have ran in to some problems with it.....mostly with how I setup our corporate machines.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably just leave it off for now.

Actually, MS Windows XP SP3 is fine. We tested it the past 4 weeks in our lab w/ 20-25 different builds from Dell.

Works perfectly. We approved it last week for LanDESK rollout to our 3500 PC's on the WAN.

2/3 are updated w/ no trouble calls.

I think you would be fine upgrading to it LD.

Good Luck...

To create a system restore point, click the "start" icon, then click on "help and support". Under "pick a task" select "Undo changes to your computer with System Restore", it should have an option to "create a restore point".
