I believe it safe to say that the expectations on this year's team are very high. I would venture to guess a conference championship title at a minimum and the SB as the crown jewel. I agree that this team has enough talent to accomplish at least one of the goals listed, if not all the way. That said, should we fall short of a conference championship, is it a given that McCarthy is given a plane ticket home and Dak is replaced by Lance? Your thoughts...

And then when we dont get there either the following season then we get rid of the next coach and Lance?

I am not sure either guys would be gone if we don’t make the conference championship. Jerry stood by Red year after year with some talented teams never reaching their potential or goal. Unless the wheels come off MM will be back.

Dak isn’t going anywhere. It’s laughable that we pick up a dumpster fire with a fourth round pick and he is now considered a possible replacement in the near future.

Yes I hope Lance works out for the sake of the franchise long term but it’s not going to be anytime soon. Barring injuries.

Let’s not even get into the cap ramifications of sending Dak packing.

Come on people.

You think Jerry will fire MM and replace Dak if they get to the NFCCG and lose there? There's zero chance that would happen.

The Cowboys are, I think, widely considered the 3rd best team in the conference. I don't think there's an "expectation" they'll get to the SB.

..negative to all assumptions. Dak isn't going to fall off grid over night.

Dak would have to implode for at least two years.

Big Mike will get Dallas to another post season. That will be 3 yrs consecutive.

How far they get is just a bonus. But the monkey looms.

Pertaining to Lance replacing Dak, at this time we have absolutely no way of knowing what exactly Lance will be capable of doing or when. I have hopes he develops well, but we don't know that yet. That's just the way it is.
And MM a plane ticket home? Geez, he hasn't even started 1 season yet calling plays for the Cowboys and we're going to start planning his flight home???
I think this team is taking some major strides defensively and offensively as well, and I think McCarthy is the difference maker behind these gains, I definitely do NOT think it's Jerry. So now we're already starting to plan to dump McCarthy and Dak both? Without a clue whether we have a viable replacement at QB yet and just when the Cowboys are starting to show some real improvements talent wise in our team? Isn't this thread a little premature??

Agree. This place needs a real game to talk about. Fortunately, we have one in six days!
I agree, but it's gonna take more than just 1 game to get a feel for what kind of team we have this year. We have a lot of new talent that needs some experience to show what they can really do.

MM ain't going nowhere....yet. He is signed thru 2024 and i expect will probably complete his contract. JJ won't fire him. So he really has two years to get it together and get this team to either a NFCCG and/or SB. If not, i can see DQ being next man up. MM doesn't have KM to run screen for him now, it is on his shoulders. As for Dak, his restructured contract depends on his next two years as well. JJ is attempting to give himself options this time around. Rush as backup and Lance to learn for two years. Maybe even pick up another QB next year.

I agree, my thread maybe premature. But if you look at how Jerry brought Lance into the fold, he didn't solicit Mike's opinion. That speaks volumes to me. Secondly, how long will Jerry tolerate one post season win and done. Mike hasn't produced a 2nd post-season win yet, and anyone who thinks Mike has time on his side is gravely mistaken. Jerry wants results, not excuses. And finally, all the talking heads on this forum and professionally believe this team has the pieces to get it done. As much as I despise Jerry's way of ownership, I must admit that this year's team is built to go all the way. Mike is now calling the plays, and Moore is gone. To continue doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is foolishness. Jerry is not going to stick with Mike and Dak if his patience is wearing thin and he wants a change.

I would say that the teams best chances are based on how positive our posts are.

any negativity by fans is sure to derail the effort and those people should be SILENCED!

Yes, I do think Jerry would replace Mike. I think Jerry wants results and I don't think he's above not changing coaches (Quinn?) and/or QBs.
And I have a question for you...your opinion is that the Boys are 3rd best in the NFC. Do you think Jerry believes the same, or that this team is capable of going all the way. I think the answer is obvious, and that's what Jerry will base his decision on.
