Yes, I do think Jerry would replace Mike. I think Jerry wants results and I don't think he's above not changing coaches (Quinn?) and/or QBs.
And I have a question for you...your opinion is that the Boys are 3rd best in the NFC. Do you think Jerry believes the same, or that this team is capable of going all the way. I think the answer is obvious, and that's what Jerry will base his decision on.
First, I didn’t say what my opinion was. Second, the third-best team in the conference is obviously “capable” of going all the way. Third, Jimmy Johnson notwithstanding, I don’t see a shred of evidence in history or statements that Jerry would fire a coach who took the team to the NFCCG because that wasn’t good enough.

I just want to see something different...either get past the division round or go 4-12....this competitive enough to win in the regular season but not in the playoffs purgatory has just been so draining as a fan

Jerry will find some type of moral victory at the end of the season and status quo will be maintained. How long did the FO stay with Jason Garrett and tolerate his mediocre performance…I think Jerry is resistant to change. He talks incessantly about his desire to win another Super Bowl, yet fails to address the weaknesses that might limit the team’s success.

I believe it safe to say that the expectations on this year's team are very high. I would venture to guess a conference championship title at a minimum and the SB as the crown jewel. I agree that this team has enough talent to accomplish at least one of the goals listed, if not all the way. That said, should we fall short of a conference championship, is it a given that McCarthy is given a plane ticket home and Dak is replaced by Lance? Your thoughts...
There's 10 posts on the front page with this same story line, but I guess one more was necessary!

I would say that the teams best chances are based on how positive our posts are.

any negativity by fans is sure to derail the effort and those people should be SILENCED!

GO COWBOYS GO COWBOYS GO COWBOYS !!!!!!'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shabazz, I have seen a change in your last 3 posts. What's up with that? I am not saying I don't like it, (I do, I do), I am just not sure why.

I mean 3 straight 12+ win seasons would probably make Jerry wonder if its worth moving on regardless. Though he could hand the keys to Quinn.
Dan Quinn has a 43-42 record as a head coach. He should stick to what he does best: D-Coordinator.

Mike McCarthy has a 155-99-2 record as a head coach, plus 1 Super Bowl championship. He currently has a 30-20-0 record with the Dallas Cowboys with back-to-back 12-5 record seasons, plus 2 trips to the playoffs out of 3 seasons coaching the Cowboys. It would be absolutely asinine to fire Mike McCarthy if the Cowboys make the playoffs but fail to reach an NFC Conference Championship game this year, especially after barely installing a revamped Offense and barely given a chance by Jerry to become the Offense's playcaller. If Jerry fires Mike McCarthy this year even if he reaches the playoffs but falls short of reaching a conference championship game, good luck finding a better qualified coach who would be willing to come and coach for this clown of an owner/GM.

I’m under the belief that if MM wins 11,12 games and they get back to the division round and don’t get embarrassed that he will be back.

Obviously we have loftier goals but I don’t think big Mike is on the hot seat as much as some of the fan base believes he is

Unless a miracle happens with Prescotto :muttley: expect Big Mike and yours truly to be gone before June 1st, 2024.
Yes, Quinn will be our new HC and Lance will be given a shot to win the starting job.

"The Cowboys are, I think, widely considered the 3rd best team in the conference."

Maybe I don't understand your English, but this is what you typed.

Perhaps you don't. I do think the Cowboys are widely considered the third best team in the conference: look at all the Power Rankings out there and that seems pretty clear--a couple have them second but the majority have them third.

But you rendered that as "your opinion is that the Boys are 3rd best in the NFC," which is not at all an equivalent statement.

McCarthy may need to get to the Conference Championship game to keep his job, but Lance has to prove he can play QB at the NFL before he takes anyone's job no matter how Dak plays.

I agree, my thread maybe premature. But if you look at how Jerry brought Lance into the fold, he didn't solicit Mike's opinion. That speaks volumes to me. Secondly, how long will Jerry tolerate one post season win and done. Mike hasn't produced a 2nd post-season win yet, and anyone who thinks Mike has time on his side is gravely mistaken. Jerry wants results, not excuses. And finally, all the talking heads on this forum and professionally believe this team has the pieces to get it done. As much as I despise Jerry's way of ownership, I must admit that this year's team is built to go all the way. Mike is now calling the plays, and Moore is gone. To continue doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is foolishness. Jerry is not going to stick with Mike and Dak if his patience is wearing thin and he wants a change.
People keep parroting the line that Jerry didn't contact Mike at all about his opinion of Lance and/or the trade. Some keep using that assertion against Jerry and the Lance trade, but according to MM it's a false assertion.
MM stated that he was in on the evaluation of Lance, so there was contact. He wouldn't have been in on that evaluation without a reason.
But even if it was true that Jerry made a snap decision, that doesn't bother me. We don't know the circumstances of the situation. Circumstances might've dictated a quick decision.
Either way, we may have acquired a good QB out of the deal for a very low cost. If he doesn't work out, hey it only cost us a 4th round pick to find out.

The point is that Jerry, through his own admission, stated he did not inform either MM or Dak. This move by Jerry doesn't do much on the surface to show trust or faith in Mike. I can only go by what Jerry said, not by how Mike wants to present it. And to add further insult to this...who's lying and why?
This is just another sequel to what we've come to know as the front office clown show.

Look at the difference between these two statements.
I stand by statement regarding your English...and I'm done responding.

You're not serious. The only difference there is how definitive the statement about "widely considered" is. Neither one conveys the writer's opinion of how good they are. But you know that: that's why you said "I'm done responding."

A good chance that they do very well this year.
I don't see Dallas doing anything this year. Maybe sneak in the playoffs as a wildcard but are not going to win the division. We can blame McCarthy but we all know who is to blame.

Third year in a row with double digit wins. Best team in decades.

Not really I mean yes NFC championship game doesn't have to be won but that would be a step further,, if they make it to an NFC championship game win or lose everyone's saved their jobs for sure.. By the way you can't start talking about this debate without context what if we have a bunch of major injuries to good players I mean that pretty much would take the hot seats off of everyone because that's not fair...
