The Cowboys are trying to create a high powered offense.

Tonight the Cowboys FO shut up a lot of fans who have continued to doubt Romo's future with the Cowboys. The Cowboys invested in Romo yet again tonight by drafting Martin. I'd still be pleased if we could bring Waters back.

Smith - Martin - Frederick - Waters - Free

That would be pretty good to me.

We also brought in Scott Linehan to hopefully add a bit of a spark to the offense. We have the QB, the RB, the TEs, and the WRs... we just needed a proper offensive line. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we draft a tackle in the 1st three rounds of the draft next year.

Very Romo friendly pick here, I'm sure Romo will be one of the first ones to talk to him.

With that being said, I fully expect the next two rounds to be defensive linemen. It would be huge if we could get Jernigan in the 2nd round, and then someone like Jackson Jeffcoat in the 3rd.

I think with the state of our D, we can find some significant contributors and starters at any slot in this draft. We also need to bring in DL in waves. Plenty of day 3 picks ... use them wisely.

Agree though I think Leary still starts
This looks like a good OL to be able to run the ball on 3rd and short and red zone and in obvious running situations

Offense can be less predictable

the last few SB teams really showed that, we should be keeping offenses off the field, well, til after they score, but for keeping them off the field. This fixes our CB and S problems immediately.

If we continue with a Jason Garrett style of offense then forget about us being high powered.

We still need coach and QB who will remember to stick to run like Seattle.

I like the pick for the reason ... Best player available and also fixes a need for a long time to come. ( not to mention didn't go for fancy pick .. Menziel) The guard play improved when waters was there or Bern got well..but Leary is probably still learning and have some limitations.

Now hopefully they can run the ball better and pick up short yardage to keep offense going. And D off field.

About the only thing the offense consistently did poorly in 2013 was converting on 3rd down, and what killed us on 3rd downs was pressure up the middle.

The only thing with Martin is he's kind of an old rookie (will be 24 this season), but lineman (especially guards) do play longer than other positions, so it's all good.

They're not bringing Waters back.
1. He has not had the surgery required to allow him to play again.
2. Leary was really good in the 2nd half of the season.
3. Waters did what is expected of 36 or 37 year old previous Pro Bowler. He played well for a short time and then got injured.
