As a 49ers fan, what's your view on Jimmy G (serious question)?
I like Jimmy G, but he is limited. Ever since he hurt his knee he's not mobile at all. People can say what they want about him but he has a winning record, again just limited.

Also this game against Dallas is where he got the shoulder injury that eventually needed surgery. I think that's the reason scoring slowed in 2nd half.

Bosa out early in 3rd with concussion. Warner went out. This is the game Jimmy G got shoulder injury that eventually needed surgery.

How is this seasons Cowboy team different from this game?
Dallas is stronger up front on offense and has the best Edge depth in the NFL.
Dallas spent all off-season planning to play San Fran again.
They added tons of size in both lines and has emphasized playing smart football after penalties killed them last year.

This should be a good game but Dallas played one of the toughest schedules in football this year and has already beaten 3 of the 7 other remaining playoff teams.

Last year Dallas was a finesse team that led the league in offense behind a 3 WR attack. This year they are far more balanced.

If I were a San Fran fan I'd feel like this game will be similar to last years wars with the Rams.

49ers team is no where near same as last game. End of season the 9ers were beat up and barely made the playoffs. Last game lost Bosa in 3rd, Jimmy G got hurt, dropped a few other guys too.

This game everyone healthy as well as added players on D, CMC, etc. Purdy has shown to be better than Jimmy G at this point. 9ers averaging 10+ points a game over games with Jimmy G. If he continues to play as he has they will be hard to beat

By game time it will have been 3 weeks since 9ers had to travel, everyone healthy and rested and playing another home game. It should be a far better team hitting the field on Sunday.

We beat a weak 8-9 "no run" bucs team w brady on the road in the Wildcard game.
yeah it's great and all to beat Brady but they were still the weakest team in the NFC Playoffs.

But this is a "Divisional Road Playoff Game" against the best team in the NFL imo.

We havent won a divisional round playoff game on the road in 30 years either.

And we're still 2-4 on the grass this year

The Divisional playoff streak and road playoff streak is still alive for at least one more week

It's gonna be different facing a team that can run the ball effectively on grass.

But this is our 4th road game in a row on grass.

We haven't won 2 games in a row on grass all year.

The Divisional playoff draught and on the road is the biggest curse we have to overcome.

Not all the Wildcard playoff hooplah.

Exactly......the game was a lot closer than some remember. It's not like they dominated us.....
People like to act like this was a 30 point blow out, but honestly the Cowboys were a few less penalties and a few more good plays away from winning despite how flat they showed up.

I expect things to go differently this time.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I think it depends on which Cowboy team shows up.

The past 6 weeks have been interesting.
  • Eeeked out a win over the (3 & 13) Texans.
  • Slipped past the Jags.
  • Beat the (no Hurts) Eagles by 6 pts.
  • Beat the Titans.
  • Lose to Washington.
  • ...and beat the limp Bucs.

You can say the Niners haven't faced stiff competition, but...it's been a minute since the Cowboys looked impressive against healthy competition too.

Sf had the upper hand the entire game and just had to run the clock out.

Jimmy G pees his pants and throws 2 picks to keep it closer otherwise it's a pretty dominant win by SF.

Purdy looks like he's in a class above Jimmy G now that they are healthy.

Sf has much better coaches and their team is better than last year

We're still not the same without Cooper

Can’t think of any highlights for the Cowboys in that game. I don’t like reliving losses.

Great I want to beat SF at their best. Looking forward to the game.

Agree 100%......... so much talk about the penalties but as stated, clean them up, 2-3 more plays we win that game.

We drew the NFC North and AFC South this year. Those are weaker divisions.

That's why the rise in the NFC East this year

End of day 49ers SOS was 26th this year. Dallas was 9th.
It's OK to feel confident but I am fairly sure anyone who thinks this is a walk in park either direction will be proven very wrong.
Reality is every GM in football would take the current Cowboys roster over SF.
Even guys who mock Dak for attention realize he is vastly superior to a 7th round rookie in Purdy. --who I watched in Big 12.
SF is still really good though, gets a couple day's rest and has a home game.
Plus a really, really good coaching staff.

I'd probably have the spread at about -2 SF instead of the current -3.5.

These 2 teams were the most dominant in round 1. the 49ers won going away but they did actually trail at half-time.
Dallas dog walked TB who was never in the ball game and didn't score at all until it was 24-0.

I believe these are the 2 best teams in the NFC right now.
Philly has a lot of talent but also played a cupcake schedule ((23rd which is nearly impossible to do given the quality of the division)) and has been softer down the stretch.

Dallas played the 9th hardest SOS in the NFL.
They beat Cincy, Minny, NYG and PHI; all playoff teams.
They lost to TB, PHI, NYG, JAX among playoff teams.
Only the week 17 loss to WAS was a non-playoff team. And they were at least .500

OL and run D killed us.

If the OL shows up it means we can run the ball and still be efficient in O. If we stop the run, we make a rookie try to beat our defense and beat a lot of pressure.

Interesting .......even with all the penalties, we were still in this game right down to the last few mins.

that has always been my argument for a silver lining. we played poorly and lost by only 6 and the lazy ref that didn't hustle to set the ball also didn't halp the last gasp attempt, yet dak gets blamed. Yes this team we are supposed to be scared of couldn't bat us by more then 6 when we basically handed them the game. those penalty's brought back big plays, ruined momentum, the blame was always on the OL and play calling..basically no run game either.. we didnt lose by much ..thats a positive going into this game.

also listenig to a program they claim that since purdys become the starter they haven't faced one top 10 defense, really not any good defense at all , weakest schedule in the NFC over that stretch, and struggled against the raiders and parts of the Seattle game..

more silver linings. our D is top 10.

there is hope but cant be having 10+ penalty's either or Unforced errors.

Man, I hate to disagree but Dallas really couldn't do anything until a very freaky fourth quarter, starting with a fake punt (3 points) and then a late Garropolo INT (7 points). They got a touchdown on a short field. Before that they just could not sustain drives due to an avalanche of penalties, mostly on the offense, and a lot of pressure up front against Williams and Collins. The Prescott INT was a back breaker. Dallas doesn't even have a chance of winning that game without the takeaway by the defense. Every time they tried to go on a long drive in the second half they failed. They had only TWO drives that went beyond 37 yards. The first touchdown in the first half (67 yds) and the final drive (56 yds) that expired with the clock. Moreover, the two that went for 37 yards included a fake punt (extending the drive) and a failed fourth down conversion. Atrocious.

San Francisco did most of the damage in the first half. They were incredibly only able to get points off the INT (on a short field) in the second half. The defense was definitely good enough to win that game. There was some level of domination I'm afraid. The Dallas offense got stoned.

The defense was good enough to win that game. San Francisco's only points in the second half came off a short field immediately following the Prescott INT. They got stoned otherwise. They didn't have ANY drive that went beyond 27 yards in the second half. Their last four drives were...punt, INT, punt, punt.

That loss was on the offense. It just was.
