It was priceless every week to tune in to Football on CBS in the early to mid 90's to hear Sommerall and Madden talk all game about Nate Newton, Larry Allen, Moose Johnston and Eric Williams...

Larry was the most consistently overpowering LG that the Cowboys ever had. Opposing d-linemen dreaded lining up against him. It was nothing short of irresistibly laughable whenever he'd block opponents by blasting 'em with his powerful arms. He was flat-out awesome!!!
Yep. Many opposing players would strangely come down with a case of "Larry Allen-itis" , as some opponents called it, during Dallas week.

able to expand on that, never heard anything along that line.

You have to remember that when BP got here it was after that injury that LA got in 2002. He was never the same after that; still had the power but could not move anywhere near as well. He was by that time a straight up power player with little agility.

BUT remember this: BP loved Horse Racing and his nickname for LA was Secretariat.

Larry Allen could have made the Hall of Fame at four different offensive line positions. And I truly believe he could have made it as a defensive tackle, too.

Most athletic big man I've ever watched play, and the most powerful to ever wear a star.

I sure would have liked to see our offensive line back in 1995-2002 if Erik Williams had not gotten into the car accident. Williams was just entering his prime at the time of the accident. Even with a hobbled Erik Williams we still had the most dominant right side for a couple of years. Can't help but think of what might have been with those two.

All you could really hope for with that guy was that you got him coming off a one Chicken, one bag of Fries, one Cake and one 40 night. Heaven forbid you caught him off a four Chicken, two bags of Fries, two Cake and two 40 night.

I believe Warren Sapp admitted to switching positions when facing the Cowboys. Hall of Famers wanted no part of him. Says it all.

I loved watching Erik Williams. He was the first O-lineman that I would ever rewind the VCR (yes kids, VCR) and watch him pummel guys. He would punch people in the side of the head and they would give up for the rest of the game. I remember HOF DE Reggie White would throw in the towel. He was awesome. Really wish he didn't get into that car accident. Never the same after that. Loved watching him play. He taught me an appreciation to not just watch the "money players", but the line could be fun too.
