Belichick hit on 5 of his last 12 second round picks (see link below). New England parted ways with 2018 2nd round pick Duke Dawson before he ever played a regular season snap. Let that sink in. Traded him and a 7th rounder to Denver for a 6th rounder.

Dallas Cowboy 2nd round picks since 2010:
2010 (Pick 23 of 2nd round) Sean Lee (Hit)
2011 (Pick 8 of 2nd round) Bruce Carter (Hit)
2012 None
2013 (Pick 15 of 2nd round) Gavin Escobar (Miss)
2014 (Pick 2 of 2nd round) Demarcus Lawrence (Hit)
2015 (Pick 28 of 2nd round) Randy Gregory (Miss - due to drug use not talent)
2016 (Pick 3 of 2nd round) Jaylon Smith (Hit)
2017 (Pick 28 of 2nd round) Chidobe Awuzie (Hit)
2018 (Pick 18 of 2nd round) Connor Williams (Hit)
2019 (Pick 26 of 2nd round) Trysten Hill (Miss)

6 Hits and 3 Misses. Really good if you ask me. Better than the 50% average for all teams for second rounders. Had Gregory been able to stay off drugs, the hit percentage of Cowboy 2nd round picks would be absolutely awesome. Two of the three misses were late in the 2nd round (Gregory and Hill).

Difference is that the Pats have Belichick, who can turn late round picks and undrafted players into contributors. The Cowboys are entirely reliant on their talent and building that talent through the draft. If that is the philosophy then they BETTER hit on the majority of their early round picks.

I don't think you can say any of the picks were a hit. They haven't won anything. How many championships have the pats won?

I don't agree with Bruce Carter as a hit although I agree that generally, they are doing pretty well in the second round.
He was a hit like balsa wood is wood.
Well... yeah, I guess but...

You’re being generous including Bruce Carter as a hit. He did start some games here and wasn’t a complete bust- even had some good games. But he should have been a lower round pick because of his injury risk.

He wasn’t resigned here after his rookie deal and in 8 NFL seasons, only started 36 games, and missed over 20 games due to injury. If we’re being generous, he was occasionally a decent player.
