If Carolina beats Atlanta this Sunday, the Panthers will have swept the Falcons this year. Since the Bucs already swept the Falcons this year, Atanta would have been swept by two different teams in the same season.
No team from a 4-team division who had a winning record after 15 weeks has been swept twice in the same 16-game season since Bum Phillips' New Orleans Saints in 1983.
A Carolina win, then, would result in something that hasn't happened in 22 years, during which time there have been 17 teams that started 8-7, with none of them being swept twice.
This doesn't count 5- and 6-team divisions, where such a double-sweep is more likely.
Also, there has never been a SB champ that did not win a regular-season road game against a 7-9 or better team, something neither the Giants nor the Seahawks did this year.
