In regards to the last game of the season and then playing them again the following week, per DMN. Its happened 9 times, on 4 occassions the same team won both weeks. It was posted somewhere earlier, but Wade was the coach of that Denver team that got beaten back to back in 1993.

What it says is that there is no pattern to it. So for all those who would say that we can't beat the Eagles in back-to-back games, these stats say that it really doesn't matter all that much.

What happened last year had no bearing on what happened this season. What happened last week has no bearing on what happened this week. Each game, each season is its own.

These "trends" that the mediots and some fans are so fond of are about as meaningful as the patterns of your breakfast cereal floating in the milk or the shape of a particular cornflake.

Playing the Eagles in back to back games means absolutely nothing. Neither does beating a team 3 times in a year. Nothing. People just like to throw that stuff out there and talk about it. You're more talented and execute better, you win. That's the bottom line.

I really just feel like it's sooooo tough to beat a team three times in a row. Especially when it's two evenly matched teams.

Y'all are missing the real story ... from the list above the home teams for the playoff games are 8-1. Granted, the home team should be the better team but that's a huge winning percentage.

I think the Eagles and the Cowboys are the best teams in the NFC and it would be a shame for one of them to be OUT after week 1. So I am hoping that BOTH teams get a chance to meet deeper in the playoffs as opposed to in week 1.

One thing that you can't really tell from the list is that some of those teams had nothing to play for in the last regular season game.

For instance, I believe in the 2004 Colts/Broncos back-to-back, I believe that Peyton Manning played one series and the Colts key players only played a handful of plays before the Colts put backups in.

Then the next week, they hammered the Broncos and Manning had one of the greatest playoff games a QB has ever had.

The beating them 3 times thing is ridiculous as well. It's not like trying to get a coin flip to be heads 3 times in a row. The Cowboys will control their own destiny, not a mythical coin flip. It remains to be seen if they really can.

so the home team only lost once in the second game. sounds good to me.

actually it is kinda funny that this could happen to all wild card games this year.

those kinds of stats are totally meaningless. There are so many possible variables that trying to find a pattern is just plain stupid.
