Do you all know who missed their block last year when both Warner and Leinhart got hurt.....#75 Leonard Davis. I sure hope he gets a new breath and plays with heart.

As I have stated in many threads in the last few days about Leonard Davis....he is lazy. He plays about 2 out of every 6 plays. Unfortunatly I have had to watch this guy and hear about him on Arizona news stations throughout the season and pre-season. I have seen many Arizona sports shows breaking down film about this gu and "why the Cardinal were letting him walk."

I am pretty upset we paid big money to an OL who is sub par at best. Yes, he is big and it is perceived to be a good signing however under the surface I am scared to death about this guys habits, and motivation. I pray a new team can bring a new dawn

I ask myself this... The arm pit of the NFL (Arizona Cardianls) let this guy walk without even having a player to fill his position, we step in and pay up. I hope someone in Dallas knows something about him that I have not heard or seen. "With Davis gone, the Cardinals are in need of a left tackle. There is no heir apparent to Davis on the roster, and the club will need to fill the void in free agency or the draft."

People may try to bash me and say I don't know I haven't watched him...bullsh** I have seen many, many media breakdowns, reports and live coverage. If you want to bash come at me with stats, not just "he is good in run defense," He did not play his drafted position." I am open to hear your opinion backed with fact, not just a bashing session that some of the people on this board partake in...

We are paying him more then his 2nd pick contract in 2001..."The second overall pick in the 2001 draft, Davis has made between $35 million and $40 million from the team in six years, collecting every penny of his rookie contract."

All we can do is hope the fresh start and being surrounded by people used to winning and contending will raise his game.

We really were backed into a corner on this one. Davis was really the on "premier" OL left. His versatility is really key to this deal. Not sure why it did not work out in AZ, but Whisenhunt probably would like to cut some ties with perceived disappointments like Davis and forge forward with his own stamp on the field.

One thing you have to consider also is that hard work is contagious. What was Marc Colombo doing when Parcells called him up to start working out for next season? It wasn't working out likethe mad dog he was before we signed him. That's why it took him a year to get in "game shape". Lo and behold he became THE workout warrior of the team.

Wade Phillips has already said that there will be more than the mandatory 40 workouts that Parcells had instituted (read: your ***** will be in here working out!). In that type of environment it's easy to create a sense of team and chemistry. One guy pushes the next. I'll guarantee you that there was no such culture down in the desert. Hell, Edge was having a flatscreen TV installed in his locker for chrissake! That does not scream discipline or work ethic to me at all. It says "Oh, by the way look at our cool new locker room. We've done it! We have our stadium! Meat and cheese for everyone!"

The best thing that can happen is for Davis to keep his ego in check (which doesn't look like it will be a problem), and for the rest of the O-line to take him under their collective wing and say "This is how WE do it" and just work his *** to the bone. Bring out the competetive fire in this guy and turn him loose. Talent isn't the problem with Davis (that's good to know, it was the same thing with Flo) it's getting this guy to a place where he's willing to give it everything on every play. If we can get him to do that in even 70% of the games this guy is going to be a beast. BTW Arizona isn't particularly known for cranking out good O-linemen EVER. It can't be crappy talent EVERY time. There's a motivational element missing. I think Davis is surely capable of being motivated in Dallas. It's just a matter of whether he self motivates or a teammate/coach has to light the fire under him. Either way, I don't think motivation will be the problem with him here that it was in Phoenix. Optimistic? Sure. Doesn't mean that it's not realistic.

Just hope that he plays guard. Those missed blocks came at LT against premier pass rushers. He won't face those guys at guard. He played much better his first few years at guard when he could just manhandle the guy in front of him.

If you have been watching the armpit of the NFL long enough you would know they never keep anyone they draft. Bidwell likes to keep as much money in his own pocket as possible, which is why teams like the Cowboys don't want to revenue share with the tightwad.

As far as sacks, from what I've heard (I will research) the sacks went down once Leinart stepped in. Some would say this is because he could see Davis whiffing on his blocks and others would say that it was because Warner was no longer back there taking sacks like he was working at the supermarket again.

Now I don't know everything that went on in Az, but I know they were terrible before he got there and will be terrible now that he's gone. Whether or not he succeeds in Dallas will depend on him, his position and Romo.

All we can do is hope we steal Colombo away from the Jets and that Davis never plays a down at tackle during his stay in Dallas.

our OL of the 90s is considered the reason why Emmitt is so great....yet no one seems to talk about how that same line allowed Troy to get concussion after concussion

Well it is simple really!

He is a better Guard or Rt than left tackle.

Also, his weakness was exposed against the speed of right DE's.

He will excel here in Big D

Gotta say, that was a pretty good point. Troy had an eggshell for a skull, didn't he?

you know, I've never seen an OL that didn't get beat every now and then except maybe a young, healthy Big E. :) I remember watching Jonathon Ogden get embarrassed on a Sunday night game a couple years ago by Dwight Freeney.

You know who was blocking when Troy Aikman received all his dangerous concussions? A variation of Larry Allen, Nate Newton, Mark Stepnoski, Mark Tuinei, Ray Donaldson, Kevin Gogan, John Gesek, Derek Kennard, Flozell Adams, Everett McIver, Matt Lehr, Tyson Walters.

I counted 9 pro bowlers, 5 all pros and at least one Hall of Famer in there.

Aikman got most of his concussions outside the pocket usually scrambling. He didn't get many standing there less than 3 seconds.
