Cowboys #1 Need---A New Direction
Somehow you just can’t fool the Gods of Fate.
As weird and gut-wrenching as the Cowboy loss at Seattle may have been, in truth this Cowboy team didn’t deserve to move on in the playoffs.
Six weeks ago the Cowboys appeared on the verge of becoming what their talent level suggested they should be. But, inexplicably it all began to unravel.
All Dallas has to show for the last 6 weeks is close victories over New York and Atlanta teams that were falling apart…Just like Dallas.
Four times in 6 weeks Dallas had chances to post signature victories.
First they collapsed at home against the Saints with a 1st round bye as the prize for the winner
They gagged away the NFC East at home to Philadelphia
They blew any chance of getting even slight momentum going into the playoffs losing at home and showing no passion or intensity against the Lions
Finally, they completed the digging of their own grave against the Seahawks, a team who, like the Cowboys, is just looking for a place to lie down and die.
After 4 years under Bill Parcells the roster is incredibly better. But the won/loss record isn’t. The Cowboys are stuck in mediocrity.
As the season ended it appeared the players were tuning out the coaching staff. Simple execution was missing. No pass rush…An iffy offensive line…Lots of players dropping passes…A quarterback looking more and more uncertain…Safeties who cannot cover…Linebackers exposed for their deficiencies…The Cowboys need a new direction.
One doesn’t suspect that new direction happens if the coach decides he wants one more year.
