Cowboys #1 Need---A New Direction
Somehow you just can’t fool the Gods of Fate.

As weird and gut-wrenching as the Cowboy loss at Seattle may have been, in truth this Cowboy team didn’t deserve to move on in the playoffs.

Six weeks ago the Cowboys appeared on the verge of becoming what their talent level suggested they should be. But, inexplicably it all began to unravel.

All Dallas has to show for the last 6 weeks is close victories over New York and Atlanta teams that were falling apart…Just like Dallas.

Four times in 6 weeks Dallas had chances to post signature victories.

First they collapsed at home against the Saints with a 1st round bye as the prize for the winner
They gagged away the NFC East at home to Philadelphia
They blew any chance of getting even slight momentum going into the playoffs losing at home and showing no passion or intensity against the Lions
Finally, they completed the digging of their own grave against the Seahawks, a team who, like the Cowboys, is just looking for a place to lie down and die.
After 4 years under Bill Parcells the roster is incredibly better. But the won/loss record isn’t. The Cowboys are stuck in mediocrity.

As the season ended it appeared the players were tuning out the coaching staff. Simple execution was missing. No pass rush…An iffy offensive line…Lots of players dropping passes…A quarterback looking more and more uncertain…Safeties who cannot cover…Linebackers exposed for their deficiencies…The Cowboys need a new direction.

One doesn’t suspect that new direction happens if the coach decides he wants one more year.

I totally agre with Norm.....shocking I know, but he is right. Another year of Parcells accomplishes nothing, he lost the team this year and will not get their attention next year.

Parcells has only one more year, give him the money to go spend on the ponies, and let's move on with a new coaching staff.

This team battled in a playoff game in a hostile environment and were a botched snap away from going into Chicago with a great chance of going to the NFC championship game...

I don't think the team has tuned out the coaching staff. They came to play yesterday but just couldn't get it done. I think they lost focus at the end of the year. Combined with some of their weknesses being exposed, the Cowboys were in a pretty difficult spot.

Zimmer's probably gone, but wait and see how improved the D will look with another pass rusher and Watkins maturation at FS.

hey thats great...we battled

but we battled a 9-7 team that was decimated by injuries, and couldnt win

this team had as much chance at the NFC Championhip Game as I have at winning the lotto next week

Couldn't win? We had the game won if not for a fluke play...

I did think we'd lose by double digits...hey we battled an injury riddled team...i give them credit for not playing as bad as they did in previous weeks...but they did lose

the game wouldnt have ended on that FG, you know that right?

with the way our D is, seeing them (Seattle) get into position for a winning FG would have been expected

Romo's bad play didnt LOSE the game...it would have given us the lead, but our D is far from a sure thing when it comes to holding people

The cowboys don't need a "new direction". The "Direction" they've gone since Campo IS the right direction.

We just need to pick up a pace a bit.

And GROZ. There's no question the defense underachieved this season. With all that talent, they should be close to dominant.

we agree totally on GROZ...my only worry is we GROZ and then Parcells hires a puppet coordinator who does the same junk we've been seeing, because maybe this is just the way Parcells wants it done

thats why it really needs to be GROTA

i hate norms laugh and he's got NO sense of humor, but he's a smart man in this regard.

The question is who would we try and get if Parcells doesn't come back?

:hammer:

As far as football analysts go, Hitzgy is the worst in my book. And that east coast accent just makes me ill. He has fooled lots of people thinking he knows something about spahts just because he speaks with that god-awful northeastern accent.
But he sure nailed it. Every dog has his day. Hooray Norm.:)

I disagree with that statement, because the Cowboys were better than Seattle, and because they would have had a better chance of beating Chicago.
Seattle won its very significant home-field advantage by playing in the weak NFC West, just as they did last year, to cruise into the playoffs.
The tournament system can't always create the best quarterfinals and, in this case, an injured, inferior team will play in Chicago, in a game which will have the lowest TV ratings of the 4 division games.

Forget the win. Even if the FG would have been successful, do you really think our D could have stopped Seattle from getting into (game winning) FG range w/ the time left on the clock? Before you answer, think of the run they gave up to Shaun Alexander after the botched FG attempt...

as I have said....there is NO upside in bringing Parcells back....the only reason he comes back is because people are scared after wandering in the wilderness with Dave Camp....but I swear 1,000,000 people could have coached this team to 9-7. As I have said 1000 times....I judge us on HOW WE PLAYED AGAINST GOOD TEAMS. And the answer is not good....go look it up
