Hmm, is Gibbs pulling a fast one?

I can't see either Moss or Portis missing this game and you know Campbell will play and air it out.

Well Dooms, living here in the area I'll respectfully disagree.

The fans are desperate to give Campbell a shot, and I think they'll give him some leeway, even if it means writing off the rest of the season.

Keep in mind, Romo had plenty of support even after he threw 3 picks against the Giants because he provided hope. Washington fans hate Brunell 100x more than any Cowboys fans hated Bledsoe, and they are desperate to see him go.

I'm sure they are desperate to give Campbell a shot I'm just saying if he comes out and stinks it up and the skins struggle to move the ball fans are going to boo. Romo did throw 3 ints in the game but I think we also saw some positives in how the team was moving the ball. In the end I doubt if he plays bad sunday (if he plays) they will be calling for his head but like any player fans will only give you so many chances before they get frustrated

I think it would depend on HOW Campbell played other than the picks. Romo threw picks in the Giants game, but he started from behind (I'm kind of giving him a pass on that first INT) and had to throw a LOT, and when he wasn't throwing pics, he was MOVING THE BALL. To me that was the key. When Romo was playing we were moving the ball on a fairly consistent basis. Something Bledsoe had trouble doing. If Campbell starts and moves the ball consistantly, but kills drives with INTs/sacks/etc he will probably get the benefit of the doubt. If he looks lost, in any way, the fans will turn on him like piranha on fresh meat.

Great minds think alike Dooms!! LOL!

I guess so. :laugh2: Let me add one other thing. Romo gave our fans hope because he did play well in pre-season and while pre-season means little in the big picture it still showed some skills displayed by Romo. Campbell pre-season outing were horrid getting sacked 8 time showing little accuracy and getting picked twice with no TD. If your playing like that in pre-season I have major doubts he is going to come on strong this reg season. At least Romo showed signes of being ready over the last 2 pre-seasons.

I was at the Panthers game and while they started with a 14 point lead (and I can't say that didn't make me nervous), there was just a feeling that the kid knew what he was doing and that there was still plenty of time to make things right. There was an abnoxious Panthers fan in front of us (most were pretty good sports) who had a third grade-ish sign (T.O. has B.O.) sign that he kept waving in our face throughout the first quarter and doing the "crying eyes", "wah, wah wah" thing whenver they scored.... as the game progressed he got quieter, and sat smaller in his seat until late in the fourth quarter you could barely see him and he wasn't saying a word. All his antics were annoying, but we just kept saying "It's a 60 minute game, it's a long way till the end". There was just something about the way the team was playing. They had that spark that I haven't seen/felt in a while. Hopefully we'll see the same team out there this weekend.

Would Joe Gibbs lie? He is the greatest human being ever according to Commander fans.

I don't know why people consider it lying. If your playing cards do you show everyone what you have before you lay down the bet? of course not and I don't consider moves like this by a coach or them saying 1 thing and doing something different as a lie they just don't want to show their hand until they have to

If Campbell starts this is good news, because

1. It means Gibbs has tanked the season.
2. The 'Skins have no idea what they're doing because they're moving a #3 to a #1.
3. They are basing their change on the success of Romo, who's been in the same system for three years - which again points to the fact that they have no idea what they're doing.
4. They're listening to the cries of fans which are irrelevant as far as talent determination and preparedness is concerned for a "green" QB - which again points to the fact that they have no idea what they're doing.

Did I mention that they have no idea what they're doing

I hear ya, but why does Gibbs always play these games with who is hurt and who is not hurt and who is playing and who is not playing? Go coach your team and worry about that and not worry about all this other meanigless BS. The team that plays the best on Sunday will win regardless. If they want to play Campbell and surprise us, be my guest. A QB making his first NFL start is a recipe for disaster, especially against your biggest rival. Not to mention the fact that Campbell is no good.

Carano, good job in the 1980 Thanksgiving day game.:D

Parcells has been in this business a long time....either way the plan for the Commanders will not change...they are going to try to ram the ball down our throats running the ball...and Santana Moss will play to keep us scared about the play-action long ball. Parcells knows this and we should not be caught with our pants down

Hey there are coaches out there who put almost the entire team on the injury list like the Pats. You get a paper cut and your on the injury list. Brady has been on the injury list all season long. Personally I don't care if Gibbs claims a player to be injured one way or the other because in the end it is not going to change anything. For all we know Burnell may come in for 1 series and go to the bench with Campbell taking over and either we are ready or we are not.

By the way NE injury list (is anyone buying this):

Brunell will start Sunday. I'd be very surprised if Jason got the start, but if you guys are interested there are some highlights on youtube of Campbell in college and pre-season.

I have seen Campbell in college and saw the skins pre-season games I don't need to see special highlights only showing the good plays. Hell the Texans have a highlight reel and if you watch it you would actually think they are a good team. :lmao2:

Campbell hasn't even been active for a single game this year, I do believe...he's the emergency QB only. If he is active, I think he's starting, but I seriously doubt it.

Nothing Gibbs would hate more than to start a new QB as a gimmick and have his youngster blow up in his face on National TV after Parcells' new QB shined....that would be a horrible way to go.

I think he'd rather lose with Brunnell or the other guy (name escaping me) who has been the #2 all season.

Remember, Parcells somehow knew before the Titans game that Vince Young would start despite the Tennessee media covering it up. There's no way Parcells will be surprised if Campbell does start.

But I have to say... Listening to the Gibbs conference call, it sure didn't sound like he trusted Campbell yet. I'm not going by what he said so much as the tone of his voice. And I heard the Riggins show for a little bit when they simulcasted it on 103.3 the other day, and he made it sound like Campbell's head was swimming after six different offensive coodinators in six seasons now.

I think the "rumor" is bogus.

The Junkies never followed up on it and their "source" never materialized.

I agree. I would also add it would not come as a shock if Burnell got benched in this upcoming game. He evidently is on the hot seat and at 2-5 should the skins start off bad Gibbs very well could bench him. I'm sure BP would not be suprised

True Todd Collins has been the backup thus far.
