I did that long ago .. I was quite young, but it was fun to create playable story-based adventures using word-based action triggers, both standalone and BBS door games.

Yeah, mostly standalone. Though my last project was an actual BBS so I could then plug my games into it and be able to access all the games using the same port / machine and menuing system.

The doors just use json messages on top of ZeroMQ to communicate between the BBS and the doors themselves. It's great because now the door games can exist anywhere. (completely different machines, or locally on the same machine and since ZMQ and json aren't platform / language dependent. You can write the doors in almost language / OS. The API is extremely simple too.

Mostly woodworking and video games.

Woodworking is a great creative outlet and my normal financial job involves imaginary numbers in spreadsheets so it's nice to produce something tangible. However, it can be an expensive hobby and my garage isn't cooled so there are large amounts of time in Houston that I don't want to deal with sawdust and a 110 degree heat index at the same time.

Video games are great in that I can pick something up and play for a few minutes or for hours and not bother my girlfriend or neighbors with the noise of power tools.

Don't have many hobbies anymore.
Used to be Collecting Comics or Football cards when I was young.
Playing guitar but do not play anywhere near as much as I used to.

Now...Probably just napping...seems the older I get the more I appreciate a good nap.

Woodworking is a great hobby. I started to get into it, but I've since sold my house and most of my tools now sit at a friends house who uses them. I haven't really made too much. Toy boxes for my son, other items I made just to make other things I do easier and of course. Upgrades around the house (moldings, etc)

Mine are pretty much all outdoors. Rock climbing, backpacking, white water rafting/kayaking, fly fishing, hunting, skiing, mountain biking, gardening & yard work, etc... Other than that I like to cook & read.
