Based on the fact that Hayes and Wright have been inducted to the HoF after Jerry got them on the Ring of Honor don't you guys agree the bias against the Cowboys is magnified by not putting guys like Hayes, Rayfield Wright, Cliff Harris, Drew Pearson, Harvey Martin etc on the Ring of Honor in due time.

What's wrong with putting a fan favorite and a team contributor like Bill Bates in the Ring of Honor? Heck, he created the special teams position in the Pro Bowl.

See how the Bills have Steve Tasker enshrined on their whatever...

There is probably truth to that, but IMO the Hall of Fame should take precedence over any team's Ring/Hall. Does every team even have a Ring of Honor? It's ridiculous for the HOF voters to let individual teams dictate their decisions. Supposedly, Jerry Jones has a grudge against Drew Pearson because they clashed over merchandise sales. Is that a good reason to keep Drew out of the HOF? Jerry Jones didn't honor him, so we won't honor him? Doesn't make sense to me. The HOF should stand on its own and be a higher judge than any individual team.

The ROH should be very exclusive. Some teams put every Joe Blow in their version of it and it looks ridiculous.

I wonder how it works with other teams, any players in the NFL Hall not on their teams ring?

There is just so much room on the ring, there is so much room for banners hanging from the rafters for some hockey and basketball teams too. A better gauge would be a team hall of fame which is housed inside the building some place. The Cowboys should have one with the new stadium.

I like the exclusiveness of the Cowboys Ring of Honor.

The Indy Colts have Jim Harbaugh on their RofH. That is embarrassing. Danny White is not on the Cowboys RofH and he is much better than Harbaugh.

The Titans have Frank Wycheck on their RofH. I think the Cowboys have had tight ends comparable to Wycheck in their history.

I would rather have an argument over a guy being unfairly left out of the Cowboys RofH than see someone on there that should never be.

I also think it is a weak excuse if Hall of Fame voters use the Dallas RofH as reason for not putting Cowboys in the Hall.

It has nothing to do with it. Lee Roy Jordan has been in the Ring he has not been inducted to the HOF, Cliff Harris is still not in and just now Hayes just made it but has been in the ROH. Jerry is not to blame for the poor job of the sports writers who vote on the HOF

Folks need to realize that the Hall of Fame is extremely exclusive and that not everyone is going to get in.

Really really good players being left out of the Hall of Fame is precisely what makes it "exclusive".

Furthermore, just about every team in the NFL can point to players and provide a cogent argument that those players should be in the Hall of Fame.

I agree I will say in the case of some of the 70's Cowboys players whould be in the Hall. Many of the Pitt players made it from the 70's team and other than Pitt the Cowboys were the most dominate team in the league yet only a small handful of Cowboys made it? Overall I do agree that there are many deserving of the award and some of them may never get it.

I'm as big a Bill Bates fan as there is, but he has no business being in the Ring of Honor. Sheesh, next someone will want Dat Nguyen in the Ring of Honor.

I agree. I loved Bates but he did nothing that would have put him in the ROH with the likes of the men who are in the ROH.

...and I find the Cowboys Ring of Honor even MORE exclusive. The way I see it, Deion Sanders could have played his entire career with the Cowboys, but he never considered himself a Cowboy. He always considered himself "Neon Deion". Ring of Honor players must be the best of the best, and a Cowboy at heart. Otherise, they were only great players who played for the Cowboys.

Seriously? Really? You're not going to complain that Jerry not putting certain people in the Ring of Honor is why they're not getting into the Hall of Fame?

Seriously?

Wow.

There are several guys in this team's rich history, such as Bill Bates, Larry Cole, Walt Garrison, Cornell Green, Jim Jeffcoat, maybe Ed Jones, maybe Eugene Lockhart, Robert Newhouse, Nate Newton, Jethro Peugh, Charlie Waters, who I'd like to see get some sort of enduring recognition.

They aren't Hall of Fame guys and not Ring of Honor guys, but guys who were dependable, hard playing, and who made real contributions over several years. It'd be nice if there were some way to recognize this kind of player.

Maybe some sort of secondary level of Ring of Honor .... call it the "Spirit of the Star."

And make it understood that one is eligible to move up from the "Spirit of the Star" level up to the Ring of Honor at some point, if it be Jerry's will.

I won't even try to plan all of the logistics, but clearly the new stadium will be plenty big enough for a corner to be set aside for recognizing other valuable contributors / fan favorites.

It would be very nice if the very good / solid team players who spent their careers in Dallas (great teams need these guys too) got their due in some way.

It'd also give some of the current players who aren't spectacular, but who are very hard working, such as Bradie James, something to shoot for.

1) The Cowboys aren't more represented in the RoH because their is a notable, prevalent bias against them. Call it America's Team backlash.

2) Bill FRIGGIN Bates in the RoH? Come ON dude. That's what loser teams do - like, say, the Mavericks, who have the retired jersey of Brad FRIGGIN Davis hanging up. Why not just tack up some Participant ribbons up there while we're at it?
