Holding Percy Harvin to less than nothing

There was a thread last week that mentioned Percy Harvin led the league in percentage of catches per targets. He caught 3 of 4 targets yesterday and Dallas held him to 0 yards on those catches. He also added 3 rushing attempts for -1 yards. The defense stifled him. I'm really liking the tackling the Cowboys are showing right now.

Seattle has gotten very little out of Harvin in the regular season since signing him to a big contract last year. He missed most of last year's regular season and now is averaging 6 yards per reception this season. He is another example of how signing other teams wide receiver free agents doesn't always work out that well.

They are horribly mismanaging him. But we killed their read option plays that game.

You don't pay a receiver that much money solely for gadget plays. Line him up wide and get him the ball. He's money in open space.

It would work out a lot better for them if they had any other reliable weapons on offense.

The Seahawks are always going to have games where they struggle on offense - especially if they abandon the run for some reason I can't figure out - because they don't have any vertical threats.

I don't think they can just line him up wide. He has yet to master all the nuances a wide receiver needs to truly become great. He has always relied solely on his athleticism, which is exceptional. I agree that you don't pay that much money(basically $10 million base per year and around a $12 million cap hit per year) for mostly gadget plays and return man.

I remember him playing in Minnesota and IMO his play has regressed. Minnesota, as limited as they were at QB, still got him the ball. It's his 6th season so far and at the very least, I don't understand how he cannot play that Wes Welker role. He's too quick and fast to be limited like this on a team that needs the receiver position to step up for them.

Harvin was my biggest concerns going into the game, that and turnovers
Well we still turned it over and won the defense was just awesome.

He had 3tds called back against the Slurs. Bit early to write him off.

Dallas played very disicplined football yesterday and it really showed especially on the plays they tried to use Harvin.

Honestly Harvin on all the gimmicky type plays with all the misdirection Seattle uses is what concerned me the most out of everything. I did not fully trust the defense to be disciplined, stay in position and not give up a free receiver downfield or a ball carrier unaccounted for. Boy was I wrong. The defense stayed in their lanes and did not get tricked downfield. If the defense can do that vs Seattle, you've taken away the foundation of their offense which actually helps Lynch get off in the running game.

Even coming into the game, Harvin only had like 100 some receiving yards. Dallas didn't shut him down, they shut down Wilson. They sold out on stopping the run and let Wilson try to beat him. This is really great for me because in the past couple of weeks my friends have been flaming me for calling Wilson a game manager. Its really appropriate that my favorite team made him look like one.

Most impressive for me with Harvin was the return game. They shut him down with the exception of one return.
