And why would the Saints, who are absolutely hurting on D, let go anyone who can play?

Really? That's an awful small cap hit to be worrying about.CoachHodnett;2756507 said:Because of his 1.9 M dollar cap number, and they are cap-strapped.

If he was worth his salary, they probably would have kept him.

Why did the Raiders trade Moss for a 4th.
Why didn't the 49ers or Falcons resign Deion.
Sometimes players either cost to much other times players just don't fit their scheme......
Look at Seattle they franchise Leroy Hill this off season and they took it back and he's a free agent. he went from franchise player to FA within 2 months.......
Another example, we might cut Ellis, even though he still has a little football in him. People will say who wants Ellis, why did Dallas cut him. Salary, age and scheme could be part of all cuts....
I was just reading about Bryan Young. He was told he'd be released but was asked to stick around/stay with the team because they value his leadership and worth ethic (and i guess they hope it rubs off on other guys), until he returns from injuries for the 2010 season.Alexander;2756519 said:The Saints cut two tackles that played for them last year, Thomas and Bryan Young.
