1776 is all about GW and the start of the War....... it includes the good and the bad but is told in only the way McCullough can do
I loved John Adams, Truman, and Brave Companions. He touched on Washington only sparsely in Adams. I need to read 1776.

What a True American Treasure David is. His prose, combined with his research is second to none. Better than Michener, better than Meacham. The gold standard. He has a cool, short documentary on HBO right now, Night.

I'm still waiting for my Thundercats movie that Hollywood would undoubtedly screw up.

That and I want a darker toned Transformers movie. Not one of these cheesy Michael Bay versions.

Just a show with him doing drugs with rando's in parking lots. That would be awesome
A very close friend of mine and myself (to this day) were gonna film ourselves doing the same, back when we were renting a pad in San Bernardino (mid-2009). We were gonna put it on YouTube. There was a huge park across the street from where Randy Rhoads is buried that would be swarming with drug addicts of the very first class. Us being the same, but not homeless, thought it would be fun to record ourselves "chilling" with these dudes at that huge park.

Thank God we never went through with it.

I loved Thundercats as a kid but you're right, I can't see them making one that isn't cheesy. Are we presenting ourselves as Catman or just cats? ...Yeah we have whiskers, but the muscles of men...? Nightman will get that ;)

A mini-series set in the not too distant future:

Humans send a colonization ship of a few thousand to a planet that looks like it can sustain life; one not too different from Earth.

When they arrive, they realize that the planet had been inhabited before, but abandoned, by a clearly superior civilization.

We got enough fuel to go back home? Honestly, that would be cool bc there could be technologies found that could assist on earth, or other symbols that showed their superiority that could be siphoned back home to further advance/solve problems involving our species.

One idea I had the other night for a book/movie watching one of those Alien shows is, what if they are studying us bc they've become so evolved that they had to rid themselves of things like empathy, love, fear, rage, violence, to things as simple as understanding humor. Why we laugh or show physiological arousal to this or that stimuli; trying to re-engineer their own genes to bring back those previously deemed weak/vulnerable qualities. So smart they lost their heart basically.

I was initially thinking that returning home wouldn’t be much of an option because the reason for leaving was a dying Earth. It would be more centered around how Humans deal with this sudden influx of alien knowledge/power and how our civilization would cope with what ultimately led the Aliens to abandon their home. But I never worked out an actual plot.

It’s just a good sand-box for someone to play in and build whatever story they want; like it would be kind of cool if the settlers decided to return home and conquer what remains of earth with their new tech. Or maybe they return home to try and fix earth.

I like it.

That could be approached a number of ways; a hard sci-fi drama. An indi sci-fi comedy.

Either way it could be a very relatable story that asks pretty big questions in a way that haven’t been presented yet.

I got ya now. Almost like terraforming (not much, or if it all) a similar planet only to find out that an advanced species have tried and failed on your new "home"; do they learn from it, evolve in ways that the prior superior culture couldn't or didn't. Evolving doesn't equate to something better, just changes meant for survival. "Something" sabotaged this effort w/in this advanced culture/species and is now burdened on these new humans to conquer. That could be an underlying theme and would make for an interesting sci-fi movie/drama series.
