This is probably premature since we are still playing this season.

BUT....

If Wade is not retained after this season, a possible candidate that has been mentioned here before is Mike Holmgren. But apparently he is interested in being the GM for Seattle.

From National Football Post:

1. In talking to people close to former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, his preference in returning to the NFL might not be on the sidelines but in a Bill Parcells-type role. And the team he has his eye on is Seattle. Current GM Tim Ruskell is in the last year of his deal and has not been given an extension even after Jim Mora, his hand-picked head coach, was hired. Holmgren would love to be back in Seattle and still has a wonderful relationship with Seahawks owner Paul Allen.

Do you think that if he came here to coach (if he wants to coach), that he'd want to be in control of personnel? Because that didn't work out that well for him in Seattle.

Paul Allen has more money than Jerry and would stay our of his business. GM is a nice job and less stress than being a head coach. I don't really want Holmgren though I hope Jerry won't bring in another yes man.

I doubt Seattle is dumb enough to let him handle GM duties again.

Are you serious?

Being strictly GM is going to be a whole lot easier for him than being GM and HC.

He'll be a great GM

Holmgreen will be a great GM???

Did you actually watch how Holmgren handled player personnel in Seattle??? I will give you a hint.......He was freaking terrible!!!!

He may be a great HC, but he is not cut out to be a GM, he just isnt.

I don't want him to come back as a GM. I was hoping for some fresh blood with a different perspective. We have not won a super bowl yet so we are doing things wrong somewhere along the way. I was hoping we would try a new direction and not linger in the past. If we were going the ex-coach route for a gm then I would like to see bill cohwer give it a go. He is unproven in that reguard and may ultimately suck at it, but I would like to see the hawks give a guy like that a shot at the job. I think if they did, the mentality and style of player we put on the field would be drastically different. In a positive way.

Mike was the coach on the team during its most successful period of time. He was a NW icon for ten years. Plus a lot of people feel like mike was forced out. So it would make for a potentially bad situation for mora. He is trying to fight his way out of holmgren's shadow as it is.

He brought in hass, alexander, hutch, and tobek among others so his gm choices were definately a big part of getting us to the super bowl.

He was replaced at that time by Tim Ruskell as GM when they realized he was over his head.

What makes anyone think that Jerry won't be GM for the next ten+ years or so?

I don't want him here and I have said this for the longest. He will be another Parcells if he comes here. Some burnt out coach living off of past and is not hungry anymore as far as being a head coach. To me the best coaches for next season would be Shanahan or maybe Gruden because you can tell they are still hungry and can't wait to get back to coaching again. It's like they have some unfinished business and still have some fire in them. Holmgren would come here and on the first day of practice come and say to the team "I am Mike Holmgren, you know I was a big deal in Green Bay and Seattle". The team would and should look at him like so what.

The GM position is filled.

- signed Jerry Jones

This is the reason why I posted the story. You would think that if Holmgren wants to make personnel decisions, that it would prevent him from being the coach here. The more and more I think about it, I could be happy with Gruden. But I still think that Garrett will end up being the front-runner, mainly because of how much he is paid now, and how much Jerry loves him.
