All I can say is ewwww.

NFL | Offensive players to have radio receivers in helmets?
Sun, 21 Jan 2007 08:59:04 -0800

Mark Gillispie, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the National Football League is developing plans to put radio receivers in the helmets of all offensive players, which would enable them to hear the quarterback's signals and line calls. The system is scheduled for testing during the 2008 NFL Europa season. At that point, the league's competition committee will decide whether to implement it in the NFL.

They've already eliminated the shutdown CB, now they're eliminating Defense entirely. What next, are they going to only allow 10 men on D? If you ask me, the NFL's decision to boost Offense is destroying the league. Any offensive records made since these types of rules came into effect should have an * besides them.

This is getting truly ridiculous. The NFL is going the same way the NBA did- all for offense no matter what it does to the game. The Pro game barely resembles REAL basketball now. In 10 years will the NFL look like the arena league or the CFL?

I can see it now. A WR goes down field to catch a pass. Instead he catches interference from the radio receiver.

Right on burmafrd, I was a Knicks season ticket holder 15 years ago and now I only watch college basketball (UCONN!!).

Anyonw know what Roger's stats were for the 71 Superbowl, and he was the MVP.

I'm all for making it a level playing field and I'm old school where I think the rule changes that give advantage to the offense sucks.

It would change the complexion of the game, back to where defense wins championships, where it belongs.

Personally I prefer that the game be played without false starts entirely. I'm not saying I don't want them to be called, but rather that it would be nice to see players stop moving.

There are plenty of changes that have been made which I disagree with, but I would have no problem with this at all.

All this does is prevent false starts due to not being able to hear the QB, which is a good thing. The crowd can do a lot by motivating the home team, but they should not be able to screw with an offense by making it impossible for players to hear each other. Yet at the same time, you want the crowd getting into the game. There is no way your going to try to make the crowd keep quiet.

This would allow the crowd to get into the game and let the players be able to hear each other, which is not unreasonable to expect.

And seriously, I bet the Cowboys are one of the teams that could really benefit from this kind of change because it seems like we always get a false start at a critical time.

.

To me this is equivalent to when a crowd gets rowdy and then the offense proceeds to get a first down, thus making the yelling and chanting useless. We've all had that let down feeling before. Now imagine how that would be if every play you'd yell your lungs off knowing good and well it will not affect the game anymore.
