with Rob Ryan as Defensive Coordinator since he was hired ?
Just Yes or No if you want to explain feel free to do so.....

I honestly hate the 3-4 defense and would love to switch back to the 4-3. For all of the pressure the 3-4 is supposed to generate, I have yet to see it materialize in Dallas. Unless you can get Dick LeBeu in here to run it, I think it is a waste of time in Dallas.

No but then I think more time needs to be given. I think his defense looked very good in pre season and the Giants game. Frankly I thought the defense did a good job in the seattle game but because the offense did not show up the defense got worn down. 10 points in that game came about because of mistakes outside of the control of the defense and vs NY the defense played well.

I will say on long yardage situation Ryan likes using the 3 man front and that is one thing I don't like.

no

rob ryan has not proven to be a great DC, ever
and i am thoroughly unimpressed with his work here

if his name were not "ryan" people would be clamoring for his job

So far Ryan hasn't gotten it done and can't say I'm surprised he's never built a great defense anywhere he's been. The Cowboys went out and signed Carr and moved up for Claiborne to lock on receivers and I can't remember one blitz on Sunday.

Wasn't the point of investing in 2 new starting corners was so we could take some chances knowing these players could lock on receivers? Jerry may be tied to Garrett no matter what happens this season but if this defense doesn't show dramatic improvement Ryan will be gone.

I was happy as heck when he came. Now I'm just puzzled. His defense is no different than what we had before. Where is the crazy shifts and blitzes? Might as well just play bend and don't break all game.

The Ryan Defense i saw in Cleveland, is not the same D i see here.

I saw guys jumping around at the LOS, confusing the offense, Linemen standing up moving around. Announcers referred to it, as the "UFO" D....We only did that like once, vs Miami

What we saw Atlanta doing, i thought we would do the same in obvious pass situations.

We are just boring..... Rush 3, drop everybody else back in coverage.

I still like him though, and hope he gets better.

I was curious and honestly don't know how I truly feel. I'm starting to feel that not only Ryan but Jason Garrett is not the direction I want. I just feel Garrett is too much on the opposite end of a Rah Rah guy for me in other words there is no real excitement from him which gets his Players playing at an intense level. I just don't think he can lead this team to where Jerry is wanting to go. I'm disappointed in the whole Coaching Staff, Jason, Rob and the DeMac for Special Teams. He has seemed to burnout with the Cowboys Special Teams so I'm wishing they would move on from him.

Yea but what really is the difference between our 3-4 and the 4-3? Ware is more defensive end then linebacker. We don't run a traditional 3-4 defense and personally with the way we do run it it looks reminiscent to a 4-3 defense.

I'll give Rob to the end of the season. He didn't have his players here and maybe still doesn't. But I haven't seen enough to judge the guy to be honest. But if there's no improvement this year then it may be time to move on.

My thoughts as well. Where are all the exotic blitz schemes and packages that we heard so much about during the off-season?

this Team overall is taking the personality of it's HC (Jason Garrett) lack of excitement and seems as though going through the motions. This is not my kind of HC.

My issue with Ryan is that he's constantly in a job interview.

That haircut was no coincidence. He's basking in the Giants win, hoping that will propel him to a head coaching gig.

He might be in a three-piece suit on Thanksgiving.

No. I don't know how he ever became known as a defensive guru. His defenses have never been anything special.

This defense was darn good with wade for awhile. Now look what he is doing in Houston.

I don't know what caused our defense to go south under wade, but hard to believe it was his fault. His defenses have always been good no matter where he has been.

My answer = No.

It's all due to his fathers reputation and his brother had some excellent defenses in Baltimore. It's the Ryan name.

No, I think he may be a good LB's coach. But I dont think he is a good coordinator.

I think hes doing a pretty damn good job. Everyone that has played for him knows that he has a complex defense and last year he had no offseason to implement it. I saw a marked improvement in the giants game and last week against the seahawks had nothing to do with him. Our offense could not stay on the field for anything. They held them to 17 points on defense for the whole game with absolutely no help from the offense. I'm glad to have him and I only see this defense getting better.

Now the offense on the other hand is declining year by year. The offensive scheme is the most predictable in the nfl and the only time we score is when Romo improvises and creates more time. I like Garrett as a head coach but something needs to be done about the offensive coordinator position. We play so damn vanilla on offense its frustrating to watch. Might as well be preseason with these play calls.

He's nothing special. Mike Nolan joined the Falcons this year and they were already styling on the Broncos with a bunch of unique formations and looks.

No.

I love his passion. And personally speaking, I like him a ton more than the HC.

But as a DC, not enough results. Too many boneheaded, backbreaking decisions and gameplans.
