Honorary captains

The Cowboys, as part of their 50th anniversary, will recognize honorary captains for all home games this season. To commemorate the team's first season and decade of the 1960s, Eddie LeBaron and Jethro Pugh will serve as the captains for Thursday's game against the Raiders.

LeBaron was the team's first quarterback. He played for Dallas from 1960-63, going 4-21-1 as the starter. Pugh was a starter at defensive tackle for 12 years, playing on two championship teams.

If they really want to honor the team from that era, put people like John Niland and Cornell Green in the Ring of Honor instead of dragging poor Eddie and Jethro out to a poorly attended, locally televised rookie scrimmage....uh, I mean preseason game.
