Hope for the OL

Right now, I'm a little bummed about how our OL looked. Its hard to find any silver lining. But there might be one.

Free and Smith are still learning new positions
We are due to have Livings back soon
Costa will be back soon (did I really just type that?)
Bernadeau is getting back into form

I will hold out hope for the OL until I see the whole unit together.

I thought Smith played well. Free on the other hand has played the RT position before when Colombo was hurt in 09' I think it was. No excuses for him.

Free will be okay in the long run, but he's not going to be nowhere's near as good as Tyron Smith will ever be. Our interior line is pathetic right now.

My grandmother could of blocked better in her wheelchair than these guys did tonight.

Help better come quick or Tony needs to sit the rest of the preseason.

Fre may be relearning his position. He's always been a RT for us until we let Flozell Adams go, prematurely.

Honestly I'm a little concerned about Costa's injury. Even if it's "nothing" in a football sense I wouldn't think you would get an MRI just for the fun of it. If something happens and Costa goes down I don't really trust Arkin to fill in at this point.

Every opportunity in practice and preseason games to get reps together is crucial. If they can't get healthy and we have to keep trotting these scrubs out there, they will just never be able to gel until it's too late and we're losing 1 or 2 games early in the season.

Honestly I'm a little concerned about Costa's injury. Even if it's "nothing" in a football sense I wouldn't think you would get an MRI just for the fun of it. If something happens and Costa goes down I don't really trust Arkin to fill in at this point.

I would too. I mean it's a back injury, they just don't go away. Once you hurt your back it becomes a problem the rest of your life.

Think about it, the center position pertains to bending, twisting, and pulling of the spine. He'll have issues the rest of the year. If he was smart he would sit it out a lot longer than he is now. Strain or no strain.

I appreciate the positivity, especially after tonight's performance. What do we have... Smith, and maybe Free pulling it together... and then? I'm hopeful too, though I admit my hope isn't based on anything I've seen so far.

Gonna take a big return to health and some amazing late-preseason coming together to make our O-line competitive, come the start of the season... sad to say.

So, more of a hope-and-a-prayer at this point.

Dockery was playing LG with the starters. He is not the answer.

This is the correct answer if we want to win games.

I'd sign Holland and then let Costa and Mack battle it out at Center.

The loser of that Center battle can then try and beat out Livings for the other Guard spot.

However, the moment Holland steps onto the field he'll be our second best OL on the roster so he gets to start. I'd put him at RG besides Free where he played last year but on the opposite side.
