McShay is an idiot. Cam Jordan would probably be on the board at #17 for the Patriots anyway. If the Patriots would trade to #9, they would take WR Julio Jones. It's amazing that McShay gets paid to be a moron.
..

....Jones is JUST what Brady needs...man would that be something.

Just to be fair I watched some video of Castonzo against Robert Quinn. Maybe OL don't peak till they get a little older....

I would be ok w/ a trade down. I just watched a bunch of tape on Tyron Smith and I am not impressed. He whiffs on tackles a lot. Doesn't finish blocks. Doesn't play w/ the power you think he should have. I would be much happier trading down a few and taking one of the other linemen. The guy is a project and will get eaten alive for a minimum of 2 to 3 years. I can't really explain why he is ranked so high. I guess I am just missing something on him. Last year before the draft I watched over some Dez tape and I was 100% sure he had the talent to be a superstar in this league. I guess I have to cross my fingers if TS is the pick.

.....as I've seen tape on him now too. I just think we can go defense: either Akamura or Fairley, then get a tackle at 40. I dunno, our Oline drafting in the EARLY rounds has been so bad it's just STRESSFUL to think about this team taking Smith that high: ESPECIALLy if he can't step in right away. That's why JJ won't draft him guys, he already said he thinks we're a player or two away.....a team like Detroit will draft Smith because they are more patient and they are building from the inside/out. That said....I'm really warming to Fairley, even if we have to trade up with Cleveland to get him. The kid is a wrecking ball and Ryan could do great things with him....yeah, I know it probably won't happen but I can dream! :)

Sorry, but you're probably wrong. He's a hot commodity right at the edge of the top 10. Casserly has him going at 10 to the Skins if they can't get up for Gabbert. Julio is probably going before the 9 pick also.

No way Cameron Jordan lasts until 17.

If Dallas really likes Watt more than him, I would wonder why.

I don't think he goes in the top 15.

But he will be there at 9, which is where NE would be picking if they moved up with us.

Todd McShay said on SportsCenter Special that Dallas may trade down to #17 with New England and the Pats would take Cam Jordan at #9. What would we get from the Pats to move from #9 to #17?

Could we want to do that if we really want Andy Dalton? I don't think Dalton goes in the first round, but could go early in the 2nd round to a team like Cinci who could pair him up with AJ Green. We trade down, draft a lineman (either OL or DL), and take Dalton with the 33rd pick. Now, I'm not really pulling for us to take Dalton. Just wondering if this could be Garrett's dream scenario to get Dalton and not have to trade up to get him.

I think if they offer 17 and 33 we have to take it. That 33 pick is going to be gold. I say take Pouncey at 17, trade 33 and 40 for two additional thirds.

1. Pouncey
2. Ras-I
2. Ijalana or Carpenter
3. Rackley
3. Kenrick Ellis
3. Taiwan Jones
4. Mark Herzlich
5. BPA
6. Henry Hynoski
7. WHO CARES
7.WHO CARES

You come out this draft with three potential starters on the offensive line, a corner who you can groom to take over for Newman, a NT moving Ratliff to end, competition for choice, a great locker room guy who can possibly be the steal of the draft, and a real fb. Sign Huff, Sensabaugh, and Free and if possible backup DE. Linebacker is going to have to wait.

i agree that if they say 17 and 33 we would almost have to do it
the down side is that both smith and pouncey will be gone. by all accounts pouncey will go to miami at 15.
we could still pick between costanzo and carimi and then take carpenter at 33

i would do it but not for less than 17 and 33

That can work as well.

Morning all,

A very trusted person informed me this morning that the Pats not only have a trade essentially completed in the top ten but have a backup team in the top ten.

This is all dependent on how the board shakes out, but he believes it to be SF and Ten respectively. If Julio's on the board, the trade will get done. If he's not and it's Quinn, it's about 60/40 that they pull the trigger. They really like him, but they like Jones more.

It's going to be an interesting evening watching all this go down.

why would they trade with SF or Ten and not with us?
no one between us and them takes Julio and we would cost less

unless we said no

That I don't know. It's possible that we're one of the teams, but SF and Ten were his guesses. Maybe we're asking too much or they think someone will jump ahead of #9.

After seeing Goose mock Jones to #6, I could picture the positioning in my mind. I could also replay how the Pats traded their pick so we could get our WR last year and this year we repay the favor to get them their receiver.

#9 for #17 and #28/#33 is my favorite trade down option in the draft.

Any Dallas rumors? They don't have to be recent..

Dallas rumored to be in the running for Dez Bryant if he falls

does that count?
