Playing the Super Bowl Champs in their house on opening night, in a stand alone national tv game, you aren't suppose to win. This doesn't mean they cannot win. I remember the Giants being as much as a favorite after coming off their 2nd Super Bowl win over the Patriots and we beat them to start the season.

The Cowboys should be able to play loose, give it their best and see if they can pull the upset. It's a good barometer game to see how both their offense/defense matches up, who knows we may see this team again down the line. If they show they can play with this team, it will carry over no matter the outcome!

Would be a good time for the Zeke we used to know to come out and play and just be the best player on the field.

Im afraid though that our young secondary against Tampa’s vet WRs is gonna get us in trouble.

If you have any Bucs wideouts in Fantasy you start them this week.

Im not sure what you mean by "house money " in this instance

I don’t believe in house money for the NFL. Only 17 games. How many years have the Cowboys missed the playoffs by 1 game? A loss to start the season would suck.

I do believe in the SB hangover so Dallas should try to take advantage of that.

A loss wouldn’t be desirable but you’re not going 17-0, so you accept and understand that losing happens. All you hope for in Week 1 versus the best team in the league is to be sound and competitive. If we play a tough game and lose by a late field goal I will not feel that bad at all. It would give me confidence going forward honestly.

They mentioned about Zeke on GMFB earlier.
Saying Dallas needs Zeke to get back to those 20 yards runs. They need him to step up and be the guy to lead the way.
He was tied fro 32nd for most runs of over 20 yards last season with 3. McCafferty was way down on that list also as a comparison.

Granted Zeke had 3rd and 4th team QB's and OL last season, and had nagging issues with a hamstring, then a calf all season. Still, he needs to overcome that.
We will see how it works out. But I fully expect them to stack the box and make Dak beat them throwing. If Dak can start out strong, it can free up Zeke.

These slow starts must change.

TB may be without one of their better DB this game. So that can help the passing game.

means nothing to lose if you are supposed to lose..

House money is playing wiht someone elses money and lose it all... did you lose, no..we are supposed to lose so let it all hang out....
I don't really see it as playing with house money. Any loss you take, whether you are expected to lose or not, matters in terms of just getting to the playoffs and seeding.

I dont know that "house money " is the right phrase to use here

this is basically how I feel about this game. DQ is going to have to call a tremendous game to give this team a chance to win.

Nothing casual about playing Tampa the first game out. I do think they have nothing to lose. They arent supposed to win this game. Barometers are for further into the season.

LOL, my friend just dropped a boatload on Tampa and the money line telling me it was a lock. I'm just glad I don't do this anymore. A lock? Yeah you go with that.

It's odd. Since I've stopped gambling many years ago I've been certain the Cowboys were going to lose on at least two occasions. Games I thought would be locks even with the spread. Both times the Cowboys won 27-20.

Dallas already has the upper hand by having the former SB champs on opening day instead of mid-season.

I agree that it will be a good moral victory if we lose close, but it needs to be a shootout and we need to lose by one score or less, not in a blowout. Dak has to prove that he's really back and ready to stampede the league. Especially with both Connors at guard and no Zack Martin, Dak can really prove himself even in a losing effort.

I expect this defense to be good to borderline great by the second half of the season, but in the first couple weeks it will look like garbage because it's just getting it together AND we play 2 stellar offenses on their home fields. These first two weeks are about evaluating our offense. not our defense. If we can throw and run with the best of 'em, even if we start 0-2 in very tough road games, we have a shot to compete for the Super Bowl this year.

that sounds good until the cowboys get gashed by the run again and not only lose the game, but you lose your FF game cause your WRs sucked.

No such thing as a house money game. Gotta try to win them all. Every win matters.

That being said. The season isn’t over if they lose.
