Very interesting since the Left Tackle market has been stagnant. The top 5 LTs in the NFC for example are all on 2014-2016 era extensions, there hasn't been really any new deals.

Not only that teams are notorious for extending 1st round LT super early before they can build accolades that drive the price up

Ronnie Stanley who made 1st team all-pro for the Ravens this year is playing 2020 on the 5th year option. If he makes all-pro team again he's probably pushing for 25 million a year in 2021

Positional value of LT should be similar to DE and WR. Just alot of weak drafts, Smith and Trent William were probably your last elite LT's drafted up until Tunsil and Stanley

Good point. Tunsil and Stanley where both 2016.

Ironically all 3 of the high profile left tackles of the previous year (2015) all got converted to Guards

There have been some good ones like Mathews, Lewin, Conklin and Johnson (even though he plays RT) but no one you can really call elite.

Busts like Robinson, Joeckel, and even Fisher really hurt the position

BoB got taken to the woodshed without an agent.
This was kinda like the Amari Cooper situation where first round pick (in this case 2 first round picks) where traded to aquire him.

That kinda kills the teams negotiating power, you pretty much have to give them whatever they want

Could of tagged him at worst. But yes they overpaid for him last year and well Tunsil took full advantage of that.

I wonder what Trent Williams will be asking for now. I have to assume that a deal was in place before the trade we made.
