How about Barber and Felix?

With all the doom and gloom today, these guys both deserve some praise (combined 16 carries, 77 yards). They both showed exceptional burst through the hole and really made things happen on the ground. I was beside myself with Barber. He looked like circa '07 Barber out there.

With that said, it makes Garrett's atrocious play calling all the more noticeable. We are running at almost a 5 yard a carry clip, have a patch work offensive line having trouble pass blocking, yet we throw the ball more than twice as many times as we ran it. You would think by looking at the stats we were down by 2-3 touchdowns early.

Anyway, really just wanted to shout out for those two guys. They really brought it last night.

definite positive. Barber had his burst back and felix was running very hard...there were huge holes on left side...someone was doing something good on that side of offensive line.

Yes, I agree. I think Free & Holland played pretty well.

Free straight up buried his guy on several occasion. He was another big bright spot in my opinion.

barber has no burst, he'll be gone after this year, Jones had 10 touches, not nearly enough, ten carries are for rookies, not the supposingly startering running back

Barber has tremendous burst through the line. He doesn't have top end speed or all that much quickness, but he attacks the hole violently and explodes through it with wreckless abandon. That is burst.

I have no problem with the way carries were split last night, I just think they both should have had 5-8 more.

I'm not sure Barber looked fantastic last night. I thought he left some yards on the ground by not being decisive a couple of times. He stepped out of bounds twice, which shows some smarts, but on one of the next 3rd downs, we came up short by a yard, and IF Barber had maybe gotten an extra yard or two up the sideline that drive keeps going on that next play.

But he did look better than during the quad injury.

I thought Felix looked a bit better. I loved Choice until that bonehead move. Bad Karma - the guy put trying to make something happen over smart play. I wonder if we can blame the coaches for that, because he has either not been getting enough deserved plays, or for not reminding him to not job interview out there at a time like that.

We'll find a way, but bottom line, this team played "stupid" too often last night.

Barber should never be allowed to run to the outside. He has no speed. Felix needs the ball more.

I was worried going into the game about the running game. They looked terrible in the preseason. Barber and Felix must've been taking it easy because Felix took off from where he left off last season and Barber had some burst to him. Barber's stats would've been even better if it wasn't for those stupid pitches. He must dominate in practice on the pitch because for whatever reason they keep throwing it to him. Even if it works I can't see it getting more than 2 yards.
