How about FS Mike Brown (Cut by Bears)

First and foremost here is the article from Rotoworld indicating he was let go by the bears.

The Bears have "decided to cut ties with" nine-year veteran FS Mike Brown.

This was expected, as GM Jerry Angelo said a month ago that he couldn't envision a scenario where Brown would return. Angelo is high on Danieal Manning, who is expected to be moved into Brown's starting role. With his injury history, Brown will likely have to accept a short-term, incentive-laden deal elsewhere. Feb. 15 - 9:59 am et

After taking a look at his stats, he is not as much of a ballhawk as I expected- his number of INTs were lower than I thought. However, a lot of this has to do with the fact that he has been hampered by injuries. Because he has been so injury prone though, he would be affordable. As many of you know we don't have very much to spend and FS is a need position. So the fact that he has been so injury prone is a negative first and then a small positive, at least as far as potentionally signing him is concerned.

He is also 31 years old, so while he is getting up there in age, by no means is the guy no capable of being serviceable if he can stay on the field. So what do you guys think? Is he worth taking a flyer on, on a deal that is short term and incentive laden? I would imagine so. When healthy, which has not been frequent lately he has proven to be a pretty good FS.

Good leader, tackler, but just too injury prone, so NO thanks!! The 'Boys can barely keep Newman healthy for an entire year!!

If the Cowboys could get him for a "short-term, incentive-laden deal", this is exactly the sort of free agent they should be all over.

Agree. Dude really has an issue with staying healthy but build him contract with escalators and clauses that force him to keep his *** healthy on the field. When healthy, he is one of the better FS in the league.

Remember George Teague. We were skeptical about bringing him in and he performed very well while wearing the star.

I'll leave you with some Teague entertainment.

This is the kind of guy who ends up finishing his career in New England. I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see him picked up by Belichick.

I'd take him in Dallas if he was cheap enough. Heck, Chicago probably would have kept him if he were cheap enough.

If he would agree to an incentive-laden contract, I would look at him.

Heck, maybe we can even hook him up with the Steelers old in-house Dr. to get him healthy? :D

I'd rather have Brock Marion off his couch than Brown, he's damaged goods.

He is no more likely to get injured than anyone else....say like for example PAT WATKINS. :(

Forget about FS...any FS.

Our starting FS in in place. Hamlin played so well that he both made the probowl and got a big contract from us. Last season his production was down. We should expect it to be back up this season...he's paid to be the starting FS, and we're not going to move him to SS.

We also have our backup FS in Watkins...he was getting more and more playing time in our packages until a desperate move to SS and injuries took their toll.

It's Hamlin and Watkins at FS. Roy Williams may be our starting SS this season...wouldn't surprise me one bit. Even at his worst in coverage, Roy is still better than half the starting SS's in the league, imo. Maybe Wade keeps him out of coverage and uses him as a force against the run and in the blitz schemes.

I do, however, believe we'll draft a SS this season.

If we have Roy back, Keith Davis back, Watkins back...all from injuries. Then add Hamlin and a draft choice, I think our safety position will be in very good shape. We were very injured at that position in the past year.

It's a shame we couldnt see Roy play the latter part of the season when Wade took over and the D became a force. I'm interested to see if Landry becomes available. He would be an instant upgrade up that SS position.

By the way, do you have a view on E Chung from Oregon? (I think that's his correct surname spelling, at least.)
