So does Dan Snyder, Mr. Crocodile Shoes...

He trades for overrated, over the hill trash.

I'm asking for 24 year old proven LT.

Shame on me.

Not saying you're wrong, because I don't know a whole lot about Gaither other than he's tall. He is young and if we were to burn a pick on a tendered player I would rather him be young than old.

I do have one question though. If he is a quality player why are the Ravens only tendering him as a 1st instead of a 1st and 3rd? I do think that is a legitimate question.

Some say it's a case of buy low sell high type of thing. They think Oher is a better LT prospect, they would get another 1st rounder and still pick up a RT later in the draft.

the only thing I can come with is that drafted Oher last year - I think his work speaks for it self

that being said I don't think we pull the trigger

I hate not having a number one pick

How about we keep our pick and draft a LT?

I'd say if we were looking for a LT with that #1 pick, Gaither is worth it. The only drawback is the contract you'd have to sign him to.

He's gotta be on par with any of the LT's in the draft that we'd have access to. However, I don't think we're in the market for a LT, so there goes that.

Every marginally talented FA becomes available and its the same crew barking for us to sign them.

Top draft pic.ks are invaluable for a team that drafts well. There may not be a salary cap this year but I guarantee you there is going to be a cap and draft picks give your top talent at discount prices if you draft well.

Take Mike Jenkins, Anthony Spencer and Felix Jones for example. When their rookie contracts run out, each of those three stand to get double or triple the cash they are now. Not only are you signing someone to a huge deal but you are getting rid of a discount at the same time.

Additionally, football is a young mans game. Now in this case the player is what 26 but even still signing FA ages your roster. You are trading a 22 year old for a 26 year old.

Finally, we have Flo Adams and signing a FA means you cut him because they both cannot coexist on the roster. A rookie you can sit for a year or have himplay guard in the meantime. OL takes time to develop anyway.

All in all you guys clamoring for a FA evertime a name pops up need to chill. We have no absolutely pressing needs. We are a good football team and building depth and future starters through the draft is the definite way to go. We are going to want to keep Jenkins and Felix and Free and Spencer you know.

In essense it would be similar to the Peters to Philadelphia deal. Trading 1st rounders for players though hasn't worked out for us.
