His name has not come up. What about Jim Tressel as coach of the Cowboys? He is relatively young and seems to be in good control of his team. He also show creativity in moving players around to fit the needs of the team (Teddy Ginn Jr to WR from CB). He is not hard headed and will try something new if needed (starting Troy Smith). Tressel's game preparation and scheming are very good and his staff always seems to make very good adjustments.

I agree with conner01, Cowboys need a sure-fire winner, and BP is the best available now.

Things could change.

I personally think all the teams short-comings belong on Jerry Jones' lap. He actually thinks he knows personnel! Until he gives up the final word, he deserves the blame for all the f-up's in 9 out of the past 10 drafts.

To think, the Cowboys were in the play-offs for 20 straight years, now we can't even get there in back-to-back years:(

He always strikes me as the ultimate college coach who's game wouldn't translate very well in the pros...

Hands off...He's a Buckeye for life! :D

If the rumors circulating are true, then "life" is what the Buckeyes should be praying for and not the "death penalty".

Some serious NCAA violations are supposedly going to drop within the next month or two.

Pete Carroll's play calling minus the timeout problems really impressed me. I liked how the offensive line blocked, how he mixed things up with the run and the pass...

I would not mind giving him a look...

Hmm... where did you hear that or read that? Of course, Buckeye's pain is joy for us Michigan Wolverine fans :)

Well the problem with Carroll, was that in NE he was known as too much of players coach. He was said to be not a disciplinarian, which really kind of whittled away NE talent and play after BP left.

It doesn't seem like he changed much, other than probably he knows he fits the college atmosphere better and hence the success. So call me wary of Carrol's fit to NFL again. He might have learned to a better job next time around, but I am not that certain.

Yeah, I know very little about the man. Heck, I dont even know if he calls the offensive plays, although Keith Jackson did say he called the defensive plays.

I was just real impressed on how he mixed things up.

Im one of those guys that really likes to see how the Offensive Lineman are blocking, what scheme they are using. It was very impressive how they were executing their double teams on Rodderick Wright, the All-American DT for Texas, and then would get up to the next level and block linebackers.

He was extremely good at how he mixed up his run plays and the direction.

That halfback pass in the 1st Quarter could have been a killer....

Tressel's game has always been defense first and a strong running game.

Considering that is how the Cowboys are being built, I don't see any translation problems at all.

Tressel is a nice college coach, but I'm not sure his system could work under the constraints of the NFL salary cap... ;)

Jimmy Jones had no NFL experience and he did pretty good. In fact he said that coming from the college ranks was an advantage because he knew the college players first hand and had a lot of connections with other teams.

Tressel has been a success at every stage of his career. I heard the same rumblings of not having what it would take when it came to moving up to OSU, and I'll admit, I worried somewhat myself.

I think he could do anything he wanted and succeed, and would be no less qualified than any other college coach moving to the pros.

That said, I'd prefer he stayed where is now, as becoming HC of the Dallas Cowboys would entail winning a championship in 3 years or his name would be Mudd.

Doubt it. Haven't even heard any rumors and where I live it's nothing But Buckeye football so I don't know what you're talking about.
