Yeah, he really did come through on those few plays. He backed up Church's words to an extent, had to make Lee happy, for a few minutes anyway.

He grew up in my neighborhood. He was the punk kid always kicking over garbage cans and riding off on his bike. When he got caught he would go cry to his daddy who was a cop. Guess he grew up a little

Dude made two huge special teams plays yesterday. First, he blasted Tate on a punt return and got some revenge for Lee. Second, he tackled a guy on the five yard line on a kickoff return. How often does that happen?!?!

Not to take anything away from that 5 yard kickoff return, but I kinda remember the returner basically just walking out of the endzone.

Spillman was one of three heroes on the kick return. The first was Bailey. That kick was in the air forever. I commented on the hang time at the time, and finished noting it before it even landed. The second hero was the returner. I have no idea what he was thinking, taking that out of the end zone, but I'm glad he did. And the third was Spillman for the good tackle.

Got to get this guy in on some pass packages, let him line up and rush the QB from 5 yards off the line .

I didn't know Spillman was as highly regarded as he was in SF.

He was a ST demon with the Niners. He was always the first guy down on coverage kicks just like he is here. Earned honors as pro bowl alternate last season.

There were times they needed to make roster room this year and I thought they might let Spillman go. They certainly made the right choice in keeping him around.

He had a few reps in coverage on defense that he looked good on as well unless I confused him with someone else..

CJ and Harris are two excellent guys to have on special teams. You really need to devote resources to that aspect of the game. I've seen enough games in my life decided by special teams to understand how important it is.

I don't put too much stock into stuff like that. I got in a lot of trouble in high school and the military before going to college and setting records (academics). You don't have to be a boy/girl scout your whole life... only when it counts.
