Been on a vacation the last couple of weeks in the boonies. Only popped up here and there to read a few post. How are the backup QBs playing since Dak has been down?

I don't think it really matters. Should Dak not be able to play full games or even the full season, Dallas has no shot with these guys. The FO should be held fully responsible for being negligent if this season goes south because of that. Putting all your eggs on Dak's still fragile ankle, and now bum shoulder is downright stupid.

we will find out thursday. I dont buy into TC reports.

Neither do I, but despite some fans being oblivious to his seven years previously in the NFL - and giving him a bunch of credit for playing one mediocre game on a day when the defense (sort of) showed up - I know Garrett Gilbert is a bum. He shouldn't be the second QB for any NFL team.

I'm sure we will see plenty of Gilbert in the pre-season games. Personally I'm hoping he's a late bloomer and is finally seeing the light. He was leading the AAF is passing before that got shut down.

I'll hold judgement for the preseason games. At least that's close to an actual 11 on 11 game and not freaking the F out over drills. There's a reason the off season doesn't count statistically.

Ever since Gilbert almost brought Texas back against Alabama, I’ve been a fan. I wanted him to do well at SMU but idk he didn’t take off. Idk if it was his shoulder surgery or maybe he just thought he was awesome at Texas his rookie year so stopped working. I hope he started paying attention, he’s got the skills.

That’s true in part. If Dak is gone for a long stretch - like more than 4-5 games- a backup probably isn’t going to matter. But almost every NFL team has at least 1-2 games a yr where you need the backup to give you a decent game or two. If none of these guys can do that, it’s a problem. I’m not sold on any of the guys we currently have.

The other thing is with Covid and a 17 game season, a QB could be forced to miss a game out of the blue for the protocols. That would not be an injury situation. Because of that, I expect most teams to keep 3 QBs on the active roster.

My prediction (which is worth nothing, lol) is that BigMac and the coaching staff will be scrutinizing these backups during PS games to see if any can be reliable enough moving forward, and if they don’t, I expect a waiver wire addition to be added right before the season starts.

Since the front office is Jerry and his family, who exactly will hold them accountable? lol

it doesn't matter how they played. even if joe Montana came in to replace him, the dak groupies would boo him.

well common sense would suggest lol that with full off season, ota's, TC, PS games, that he should be much better
than he was in the Pitt game.
So he should be better than mediocre, and dalton was mediocre at best, and he was a # 2, and is now the starter
on chicago!

He's been nothing on 8 teams in 8 years. He's 30 years old. He is what he is. He's not getting better. The fact that he is our backup with DiNucci and Rush is football malfeasance on the part of Jerry Jones.
