How bad do the local mediots want Turner?

Real bad. Blowhard Dale Hansen the always cunning JJT are working overtime to promote Norv Turner to "the people". They realize with him installed that their jobs will get so much easier. If you've noticed, the rest of the media, including Galloway, JFE (who's now "warming" to Turner), Sham and the like are reporting "what they're hearing". It's all part of a conspiracy including Jerry Jones, who is using the media to float the balloon that is Turner to Cowboys fans. I don't think it ever was Jerry's intention all along to hire Turner. He's mostly doing him a favor, getting him a raise in San Francisco. Otherwise, why not hire him already? Instead he is back in SF with a pay raise and the media will continue to echo Hansen's support.

Jerry's plan is to hire a defensive guy and you can bank on the fact that whoever he is most of the media will bash him...watch JFE in particular let's see if she backs off Rivera...she will have to toe the ESPN line whatever it is.

Nothing worse than the top media "bosses" of the local area, get together and all root for the same crap. Here's an idea, get your own "freaking" opinions.

If Dale says it, then Galloway says it, then JFE says it, 103.3 in general is a "follow me over the bridge" type of station, where anyone who thinks they're bigger than the news itself, not only throws their opinions out there, but harasses anyone on the station who doesn't agree with them.

This is called, jealousy for not getting the "Dallas Cowboy Radio network" gig.

Actually if you read JJT's recent articles he is quite against it.

I don't think it's true at all that everyone is for Norv. Hansen started the bleating for some of the reasons you mention, that he knows Turner is a milquetoast who will give access and be a "nice guy". But the main thing is that Dale doesn't keep up with the league and wouldn't know Ron Rivera from Ron Howard.

Galloway started talking about Norv because he thinks Romo's development is crucial to the future of the team, and he thinks Norv would be great at developing Tony. But as the possibility has become more real, he doesn't seem as hot on the idea. BTW, he doesn't care at all about media access. He's not a beat reporter, doesn't count on interviews, and said a million times that he never cared about Big Bill denying access to reporters. He actually thought it was funny when Bill would be in a snarly mood with reporters.

Babe was talking about Garrett as a very bright young guy even before Parcells quit. In that interview theebs posted, he and Gina Miller were talking about how *none* of the prospects were very exciting.

I think most of the other guys aren't for Norv so much, they just accept that Jerry is only going to hire someone he's comfortable with anyway, and they know Norv is that guy. But other than Hansen, I haven't seen anyone actively campagining for him. They all know he's just Jerry's tie to the past.

good post CL. First of all to address Hostile, to me it sounds like JJT wants Turner here. Here's a quote from his last article:

I agree about Galloway not caring about the way Parcells hacked off the beat reporters. But I don't know that I believe that he actually gives a darn about Tony Romo's development. He is NOT a Cowboys fan...honestly I don't even see him as a football fan at all. I think you would be right about Galloway, if he had predicted Romo would be what he is or what we hope him to be. But he didn't predict it and I think he'd be almost as happy with Romo not developing as he would if he did become an elite QB.

Babe I have to give a lot of credit. But I haven't heard anything from him lately so I guess I kind of forgot about. He is a guy that would want Romo to develop, so I can see him sharing a lot of common ground with the average (aka not mentally unstable) fan. Most of the other guys think Norv is the best option or don't have much to say either way, maybe they want to start off on the wrong foot. Either that or like Reeves they are trying pick the winner and start off on the right side.

Good Lord... Coach Joe was a fine ST coach, but his big mouth caused more than one problem with this franchise...
