Like someone said, I think it would depend on how we lose.
I don't think losing to a good team in their house would set off any big alarm.

As long as there isn't any sideline drama during the game, or a big blowout, I don't think losing this game should matter anymore than any other game.

Agreed.

No Sideline drama, no blowouts, no missed FG to end the game.

Just a hard fought game where both teams played well but one team had to win would not be that bad.

By not be that bad I mean compared to getting just blown out, or having a big fight on the sidelines, or having it come down to a missed FG in the last seconds of the game or something along those lines.

Losing is always bad, We need all the wins we can get in the early part of the season. We want to start off with a good tone.

But there are different degrees to losing a game, even though a loss is a loss.

So if we win than it is a great thing.

If we lose it will depend on how we lose to figure out how important it is to the team in the long run IMO.

If we lose the Media will go nuts and blame TO unless he gets 100+ yards and at least 1 TD. Then they will blame Vandershank and the offensive line.

I hope we go out there and win this game, I think we are very capable of doing just that but if in the end we come up short the media can say what ever they want because in the end they have no effect on the team or the season. Just a bunch of people with opinions. Kind of like it is here. :laugh2:

It's a great game to start with. It's a test, so we get a good idea where we stand. But it's still a very winable game - one we should win. It's certainly not a do or die thing, but a strong win would start us out on a strong foot.

1st off - teams rarely run away with a BPs team, it happens, but rarely.
So if we're not going to win, it's going to be darn close. I'm still interested in knowing if our defense is as great as advertised, since we didn't get any real work.

This game is important, mainly to show that we can win on the road against tough teams on the biggest stages. Our team has to believe that if we can take out great teams on the road, we can make the playoffs and make some noise. VERY IMPORTANT GAME!!!

This game is very important indeed. If we play competitively it will instill confidence that will carry over into other road games. Also if we don't cave in to the Jags defensive front it will bolster the prowess of our Oline. If we consistently struggle against the Jags pressure it will further expose us to our opponents and it may result in a long and disappointing season.

This first game against the Jaguars potentially has the excitement of a heavyweight fight. What more could you ask for at this juncture.

Go Cowboys.

It is a non-divisional, non-conference, road game.

Assuming that the Cowboys will lose at least one game this season, the Jacksonville game would be one of the least painful losses.

The home game vs. the Commanders that takes place 9 days from now is much bigger.
