What would our record be if we wouldn't have let this guy go? I find it sad that we cut this guy to save a million or so and we don't have an decent replacement. I think this is probally parcells bigest mistake of the preseason. It may cost us a few more games.

how has it cost us games? both of those snaps were easily kickable if it werent for us having by far the worst kicker in hte league. this guy was a 49ers reject. to even be considered at having a chance to get back into the league, was the real mistake.

We didnt cut him for the money we cut him for the roster spot. Good or Bad move could be argued. I think we should have kept him but that could go either way.

Ladoceur (sp?) has been very good until the Seattle game. Even still, those snaps didn't cost the game.

Perhaps if Cortez was a bit further out, say 40 yards or so, and missed the kick then Cortez would have a point as the snap was enough to throw off his rhythm. But from 28 yards out, there's no excuse.

The snapping has been poor, but even if Robinson was snapping it to Cortez, it would not matter.

The only thing that would have done is give the player (and our staff really) one less source to blame.

How did we cut him for the roster spot?

We had a dedicated deep snapper in Condo and now have one with the new fellow. We did not "save" a roster spot.

those Punt snaps were a little shaky and we came that close to having one blocked due to bad snap. i would've kept the veteran in the first place, but thats just me...

well it hasnt even been a month since i shared my views on this subject
and 2 long snappers later my opinion hasnt changed.
im not saying it cost us this game sunday but it surely didnt help anything
having a not perfect snap when we already know our kicker is always
looking for his next excuse for missing a kick.
oops i mean our ex-kicker !!! yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee

what i thought on 9-28...and still think: post # 19

It comes down to this -- would you rather be developing a new LS this year, when we are still getting it together, or next year when we look to be legit contenders?

Interesting way to look at it I guess.

also, Robinson was, by all accounts, a pain in the behind.

yep this has already been discussed. the person who made this thread doesnt read here often. Robinson was let go because he was a pain in the ***, and he wanted to do his own thing. Basically same as bryant. the $1 million wasnt the main issue.
