What does everyone think about Jimmy coming back as he GM? Would Jimmy like that job? He could pick the coach, the players and have the authority to get up in faces when required. Even a Parcells like position if Jerry is to proud to let go of the GM Jerry title. I think Jimmy would take a position like that and it would benefit us greatly. Not sure Jerry would do it though :(. What do you guys think of the prospects?

I think unfortunately Jerry meddles too much in the football terms, and find it hard enough to get rid of the management aspect. It would not immediately resemble him to abandon this position so easily so I think it would stay in the "dreams".

But who knows, he is, after all, Jerry Jones!

only way that would work if jimmy johnson would be willing to be asst general manager or vice president gm. Jimmy has been consultant a couple of times for jerry on hiring a head coach and the draft best i remember. Jerry Jones will always be the head general manager till jerry retires.

Jimmy is only as good as the talent around him.

Ask the phins how many trophies he brought to them?

Yes but an executive position is not as physically or mentally demanding as the Head Coach position. A nice comfy position like the one Parcells got. Let Garrett coach since that's pretty much going to happen and have Jimmy mentor him. Everything Jerry brought back in regards to Campo and Garrett are Jimmy assistant or ex player and that ole Jimmy approach is what Jerry is trying to get back. Jimmy can oversee if from the clouds of the organization.

Jerry has $ 1.3 billion to compensate for and needs to ride success real soon. Jimmy coming back would be huge and not impossible for a position like this in my opinion. A head coaching position Jimmy wouldn't want. But exec level possibly. Thanks for your input.

Agreed, that's why give him the reins to get the talent and choose the coaching. I think Jimmy would do a nice executive level job. He wouldn't coach, that I understand. The cap is most likely gone for a bit. Biggest challenge is Jerry pride as a GM. I do believe Jerry has changed in regards to control to a degree of course and have heard him acknowledging needing to change in that regard. By the way, when you met Jerry did he make much of a conversation with you. What was he like? Jerry is one of the most interesting people in my eyes from what I have seen of him.

Hahahaha! Took you that long for the no? Cmon Sir, you taking it easy on me? Any hoot, why not? We could use some of his swagger back here. Heck I just want him around, pay him just to visit. LOL! You should have heard him talk about Wade last week before the Rams game. Making fun of how Captain Cupcake came out to practice with his shorts low, hat back and sunglasses on trying to be funny. He's pissed off someone else is coaching his team. If he had the $ he'd buy it from Jerry, I just know he's always a Cowboy at heart.

You think it helps?

Jerry has said that he will ALWAYS be GM of the Cowboys.

I would love if Jimmy Johnson came back in some way ..... but its not gonna happen.

Might as well start a thread about John Madden becoming our coach or GM.

Another masterpiece as usual. You must have that sentence on copy/paste. You save that in a word file? Every thread I see you on no matter the poster. You're a charming fellow aren't you? All the little ladies must really like you. Life of the party they call you.

You mean from you posters that have been here a month or two and start thread after thread of things that will never happen?

Masterpieces like

How bout Jimmy Johnson the GM? (wow really)

If this was Romo 3 years ago would he have found a way to play through the pinkie? (Questioning the toughness and will of our QB)

Jimmy Johnson said it best Sunday (I posted a similar article)

Could we ever get Jimmy Johnson back? What would it take? What other solutions? (A continuing dream with you kids)

You must have started watching Football in the 90's

Yes we all miss Jimmy ...... but he is a 65 year old broadcaster now ..... get over it.

Still not sure why we need a GM when we have one of the more talented teams in the league.

Jerry Jones missed on one acquistion and now folks want to get rid of him.

I cant see Jimmy taking the GM role. He is perfect at FOX. He works -3 days per week and gets paid big bucks while giving him time to fish in Florida.

Jerry Jones is 66 years old, he only has a few years left (10 maybe) and then we get to see how Stephen runs the team. I think he will be a much better owner (or controlling partner) than Jerry ever was. I believe that Stephen will hire a GM to run the day-to-day operations of the team rather than trying to do it himself.

I hate to say it but I look forward to that day.

BTW, Jimmy is only a year younger than Jerry.

Last I remember this is a Cowboys Blog and Jimmy being a subject along with YES the others you mentioned seems plausable to me and other fans. Some fans such as yourself maybe not and that is plausable too, but it doesnt mean you have to cry on everyone's threads about what the blog is about. Don't enter the threads if you don't like it. You think it's a pipe dream then add it. But the crying about people blogs that relate to Cowboy topics at a Cowboy blog just seems irrelevant.

You seem creative, why don't you start a thread so we can get some good football talk going. That's all I'm here for. To get some insightful point of views. I apologize about the month only being here since you feel I should be ashamed of it. Then again I doubt people even make it past a month here with welcoming and insightful posts like yours. Did I start watching football in the 90's? No but not to far off since it was the mid 80's and I was born in 79. I live in Canada and my whole family are Cowboys fans. All the way down here, thousands of miles from Texas and through 12 years of not winning a playoff game I'm still a fan. Can we stop the miserable crying now?

I'd enjoy a thread from you, would appreciate your insight on the game and this team. I'd probably agree with you on alot and we could have some debates on the ones we don't. Fair enough?
