1. Move Brandon Carr to FS...and replace Jeff Heath.

2. Move Carter to MLB..... Lee to WLB. Carter is more stout against the run....Lee is better in coverage and does have knack for the occasional interception. Stay w/ Wilbur @ SLB

3. Gotta get Claiborne back.....

4. Gotta get Scandrick back in the slot.

5. Move Webb back on the outside where he is way more comfortable. He's clueless as nickle slot corner....And he's physically over matched.

6. Wilcox is your dime safety....not Heath.

7. Gotta play more man coverage. Just sitting there in zones and letting people pick us apart is not the answer.

8. Set a rotation among the D-line based on down and distance. Too many times it seems like we have guys on the sideline when they should be in the game rushing the quarterback. Have a run stopping unit..and pass rush unit.

Run unit......(from left to R) Selvie \ Hayden \ Nevis \ E. Brown

Pass rush unit.....E. Jones \ Wynn \ Hatcher \ Ware

9. Wouldn't be opposed to bringing a few more bodies......Could almost make a new unit

DE Greg Romeus
DE Mark Anderson
DT Okoye Amobi
DT Sione Po'uha
DT Eric Foster
DT Richard Seymour
DE Sam Montgomery
DE/OLB Ronnell Lewis

10. And if we are gonna make moves...might as well get rid of Heath.

FS Kerry Rhodes
FS Sherrod Martin
FS Jerron McMillian
FS Ahmad Black
FS Dwight Lowery

All could be candidates ......

Yep, and on top of that attack, attack, attack. Create chaos and turnovers.

I think Ware should be on the run stopping unit. He's no longer a sack artist.

If you move Carr to FS, that means Scandrick still has to play an outside corner role.

Carter is terrible against the run.

I would blitz the kitchen sink to be honest. If you are not going to get any stops anyway, you might as well bring the house and see what shakes down.

We also need to get Mo back - Webb is in way over his head and is a liability in coverage - why would the team have him on Jeffery before the end of the half is beyond me. Sims needs to ride the pine as well - terrible angles and cannot shed blocks.

Heath plays because although eh may not be as athletic as Wilcox he reads the play better and doesn't make as many mistakes. Wilcox is all over the map and just needs more experience.

The D needs pressure - from wherever they need to get it. This sit back and get picked apart approach is not working. Its time to think outside the box.

there isn't really any surefire way to FIX this defense (as in completely repair what is broken) because the scheme is obsolete and the personnel does not exist on this roster to run it.

i do, however, think the OP has some good ideas on how to "band-aid" an otherwise futile situation on the defense..

Eddie Lacy is reportedly in a walking boot right now and is questionable for Sunday. James Starks runs hard too so their may not be much of a drop off in the run game. Bottom line is the Cowboys better stop the run this week and force Matt Flynn to beat them.

I really think the defense will play inspired this week after getting beat down like that in Chicago. Plus Jerry will make sure the stadium is nice and toasty so I expect a dominant performance for the defense. Kiffin and Marrinelli will fix the defense this week.

I'm predicting a 34-17 easy Cowboys win.

4 down lineman

Backfield like this

CB's: Carr and Moore on outside, OS in slot

LB: Lee and Church

Safeties: Mo and Wilcox

IMO Mo has the range to make plays when he can see and read the QB for an extended period of time vs turning his head on the snap at CB. He has the catch up speed and plays the ball good in the air (see INT vs Manning).

Church doesn't have the range to play safety on passing downs and we need to move him to the WLB spot. With all of the film our staff has, I'm sure there is enough evidence that Church is best suited for stopping the run and having him next to Lee would improve our run game.

At this point I wouldn't mind having Spears come in. He can at least stop the run on the line.

Ball control offense. I mean SUPER ball control.

That's the only fix for this D right now. To simply limit the time they're on the field.
