All I've heard all week long is how our defense looked horrible (which it did) against NYG, and that our offense simply put up big numbers against a depleted defense, and how Eli looked like a pro-bowler without the help of Brandon Jacobs, blah blah blah.
What about our defensive starters that didn't play? Newman and Ellis, who are arguably our best defensive players along with Ware, didn't even dress. Then Ferguson, the cornerstone of our 3-4 system, went down. Yet nobody in the media mentions these absences as reasons why we looked so poor on defense. We had a journeyman cornerback in Reeves covering one of the best receivers in the league in place of our shut-down corner, and our best pass rusher didn't play.
What makes me even more mad is when people say Romo's performance shouldn't be taken seriously because he played against a defense plagued with injuries. So on that same token, we should disregard Eli's performance because he played against a defense plagued with injuries.
I'm so sick of this.
