How Cowboys' 3 key suspensions impact Giants, Eagles, NFC East title race

Steve Spurrier once joked he preferred to play Georgia early in the season when he was coaching at Florida and South Carolina, "because you could always count on them having two or three key players suspended."
Spurrier's old pals in the NFL are feeling the same way about the Dallas Cowboys these days.
The Cowboys had another suspension thrown on the pile Thursday when linebacker Rolando McClain, after skipping OTAs, was suspended 10 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy again. The league also denied defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence's appeal of his previously-announced four-game ban, also for violating the substance abuse policy.
And, to top it all off, defensive end Randy Gregory was suspended four games in February for violating the substance abuse policy.
So, for those of you scoring at home, the Cowboys will play the first four games without both of their starting defensive ends and one of their starting linebackers, and then an additional six games without the starting linebacker.
Once again, owner/general manager Jerry Jones has gotten burned by several of the talented, but troubled, guys he always gravitates toward. And he no longer has an NFL Draft (maybe he shouldn't have taken that running back No. 4?), or a deep pool of free agents, to mitigate the damage.
The Cowboys have NFC East title aspirations in 2016 with Tony Romo and Dez Bryant healthy. But being without three key defenders - and two starting pass rushers - for the first four weeks could hamper those hopes, and lift those of the Giants, Eagles and Washington Commanders...
