How Dak plays is more important to the Cowboys than a win this weekend

If the Cowboys hope to take the next step this season and become a serious contender, the change in Dak Prescott under McCarthy has to show this weekend.
Dak has to lead the Cowboys and not shut down early, as has been his history.
Under McCarthy I have seen improvement from Dak in making plays, but whether or not he can continue to do that when the team needs him to be the reason they are better remains to be seen.
It truly isn't whether you win or lose, but how Dak play Sunday night will tell you if the Cowboys have a future this season.

Dak will lay another egg. He always does. Purdy is already better than Dak in his second season. I am predicting 2 picks and and the usual post game confusion and consternation despite this is what Dak does. It is his modus operandi and his DNA. Under pressure and even when not under pressure does really stupid things. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

I agree 100%! Any true fan with half a brain should. That said, I KNOW that Dak could go 25-28 for 370 yards, 4 TDs and no INTs. We could dominate for 59:50, but if we lost by ONE POINT, the internet would EXPLODE with snark!

A Dallas loss = epic failure
A Dallas win = means nothing

I would settle for - I would be ecstatic - for a game in which Dak faced setback after setback, but battled from the start to finish and made the Cowboys better when they need him to.
Not a game in which the rest of the team was dominating and Dak just reaped the benefit, but a game in which the Cowboys were truly outmatched, but Dak carried the offense and put them on his shoulders and made plays to keep them close, possibly winning.
That's what the Cowboys have been missing for the last seven years, and the reason they go home early every season.

Nothing, nothing except maybe avoidance of season ending injury to unreplaceable players like Dak, nothing else is more important than winning….period. If Dak plays poorly and we win, he can get better. If Dak plays well and we lose, who cares? That loss stays with us all season and into the playoffs.

Ridiculous sentiment. A team that wins against a SB favorite who has beaten them twice in 2 years in a game when their QB doesn’t play great has a great future. The QB can and has played better, but where’s the hope if the QB plays really well and the team still loses. What’s the bright future then? You got it completely backwards. That’s the result of always blaming the QB and being obsessed with his play instead of the team as a whole.

Just find a way to win and I think the Cowboys will do that. In most football games some players play well and others don't. Just do enough of the right things to win.

I'll take a win and a poor game by Dak over a loss and All Pro performance by Dak.....any day.

However, I don't see how that is possible.

If Dak has a poor game and the Cowboys win it will be because the Cowboys defense outscored the 49ers offense. I'm not saying it's impossible but we aren't talking about the Jets or Patriots.

If Dak has a great game and the Cowboys lost then this insinuated that the defense let us down. In this case we are just transferring issues, Dak isn't the problem, now it's the defense.

I'm going for the scenario that the Cowboys win, period. I don't care if it is 3-0 or 52-51. But you can believe this board will light up in either case.

The problem is that Dak hasn't gotten better in seven years.
The hope that McCarthy is making a difference in him is what the Cowboys need to see.
A win would be great, but the Cowboys desperately need to see that Dak is going to improve.
If not, this team is destined to fail as it has every year.

Sorry LB, usually I agree with you,but we need this win and dak needs to do what he's being paid to do and actually help win this game instead of choking..the 9ers have been an albatross around daks neck, more like a millstone,a plumbing stone, the last 2 years,it's way past time for him to remove it,if not,the mentality of this team will be shot,imo.. THEY MUST WIN.

Dak playing well definitely matters. I want to see make new strides, but as long as we win, I could care less what his numbers look like.
