How dependent are Cowboys on OL?

Can our running game with Elliott still be dominating if we are missing a piece or two?

And what will the effects be on our passing game and Daks effectiveness?

Curious what others think the effects could be if the strength of the offense is compromised?

It all comes down to whether Looney can play OC at a decent level. Doubt if they can find someone else at this late date.

How bad was Martin's injury? I truly don't remember.

In the past our coaches have implemented as basic of a gameplan as possible and relied on the OL imposing their will on teams.

I would say we are extremely dependent. Hopefully it's different this year and defenders have to use their brain when they play us instead of the what you see is what you get offense.

We fail or succeed on the basis of our running offensive line. If we can't open holes we will struggle on 1st and 2nd down and
put Dak on the chopping block as he gets his head handed to him on 3rd down. Looney can play the pass offense pretty well but,
he can't open holes in the defense that effectively. Looney will have troubles the more he has to play. Fred's loss will be huge for
the offense if a better option cannot be obtained in the next two weeks.

Almost impossible at this juncture to obtain a better option. If Looney isn't at least viable, it could get bad.

There are teams with multiple good centers on their rosters. We will have to pay the price whatever and obtain one with a trade.
Otherwise, tank the season and get the 1st draft pick next year and a whole new coaching staff.

So, IMO the next question then becomes, can one of the starters play OC? Before Fredsy we learned the hard way that OC is one of the most important positions on either side of the ball. If you don't have a viable center, it will negate any other strength you may have on the OL.

As far as the OL calls go, I have complete faith that Martin can take over from Fredsy and do it just fine. It doesn't have to be the C. When Gurode was our C, Kosier made the calls and we did just fine.

There are? I think not so many!!!

Plus, would it be worth it to pay that much? And if Looney is not a viable C, then we did another crappy job at acquiring talent.

You misunderstand me. Looney is not bad at all as a backup center. The more he has to play, the more he gets exposed. Looney is cost
effective and serves a good purpose as a backup not a first string starter.

Absolutely!!!

However, w/o looking, I'd say there are almost no starting quality C's backup up on other teams. And if there are, they are mostly not obtainable. Maybe a really bad team would sell you one for an extravagant price, but even that's in doubt.

Basically, teams don't dump starting quality players except if 1)They are problem players, 2) They are a salary dump 3) Dang it, can't even come up w/ a 3rd one. Injury prone is covered under #1.

Maaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyybbbeeeeeee if a team found an excellent starter in the draft they might be willing to dump a high salaried player. Huge maybe.

We can always bring in Pouncey, he usually is good for 4 games, that would give Frederick time to get back.
