How did cutting Dez make this a better team?

Are the cap savings we get from cutting him going to bring us a contributor (or contributors) in the 2018 season?

Are there younger WRs on the team whose progression was being stopped by Dez's presence on the field?

Is our young QB so immature that he was unable to work with an oversized personality in his huddle?

If Dez's emotion on and off the field was harmful to the team, why did the front office sign him to a huge contract just three years ago, when he was, I would assume, less mature than he is now?

Even if an older Dez is now a shadow of his younger self, in what way is our offense better today than it was yesterday?

As a Cowboys fan since Drew Pearson and The Catch when I was six years old, I have never been so confused (and yet, not surprised) by a Cowboys move. Okay, maybe Bobby Carpenter as a first-round pick. But other than that, I've never been this confused.

Oh! One more question:

Will any of us feel any better if we see Dez in an Eagles uniform next year?

It doesn’t make the team better
You now have to spend a pick on a position that if you get very lucky is an even swap
Down the road it might if it means we get a new offensive system that adjusts as the game goes and doesn’t rely on 50/50 jump balls

I'm a a Dez fan.....but I think not forcing targets to Dez is gonna make this offense better.
I tend to agree but I would have went another route and figured out a way to get guys open so you don’t have to force it and I don’t think the decision to force it came from the QB who spread it around a year earlier
On the bright side if this fails maybe we get a new staff who can figure out a way to get receivers open like the rest of the league does

To me it was a lateral move. Dez wasn’t the old Dez. Who is to blame for that is debatable, but the results speak for themselves. If the team can’t use a WR with a 16 million cap hit better than WRs with half that cap hit, then it’s time to move on. Put that money somewhere else since replacing the other people who can be blamed seem to be untouchable.

Well that's my stance. You shouldn't have to get rid of him to stop forcing the football to him. I don't agree with the release at all. Hate it even. I think he will be missed. Probably won't show up in the win column or the stats....but Dez will be missed.

Probably the only rationale I can see as well. When Dez didn't play it allows Dak to throw to whomever is open and not have to heard about how he didn't utilize Dez. Same with OC Linehan. The Offense was actually more balanced and diverse.

It doesn't. Dez is a top 5 WR that demands double coverage. Should have honored his contract.

Correction. Dez is the best WR we have but he was not even in the TOP 10 in the NFL. He was a top 5 receiver few years ago but hasn't been for last two years.
