He didn't play as many snaps but he did move up the depth chart. He played ahead of Lotuleilei, Gilchrist and Wacha. He was in on some tackles. I don't see him having a path to the 53 with Lee, Hitchens, Wilson, Smith, Wilber, Nzeocha, Durant pretty much being guarantees. I think he's earned a spot on the practice squad.

His ability to backpedal turn and run is elite. There was one play where he did so on a skinny post out of the slot which was eye opening. I knew that he could backpedal swiftly; I had no idea he could swing his hips like that. He is a sure tackler that was maintained and he runs well in pursuit.

He had a couple of issue on recognition. He will fill the wrong gap. You can tell cause he is coming over and filling his teammates gap. They ran route combinations at him and he wasn't sure who to cover. He also struggles against OL. Carrell and Ivey were not doing a good job occupying blockers and there were regularly two OL on the second level. He got eaten up and seemed uncertain of how to stack and shed. These are all products of a lack of experience coming out of a tiny school.

Frankly if Durant makes the roster over Jones I am going to be pissed. I'm no scout and am watching a telecast and I can see it. Any scout worth his salt is going to see his fluid athleticism easily. Now way he makes it through waivers. Gilchrist, Wacha, AJones, LJones, Neal, and the rest of the bubble players likely would.

His physical ability is rare even for drafted players.

I agree Fuzzy. I thought he was superb for a rookie in the HOF game.

Are you going to do a rams game analysis?
