Ok -- I've never been a fan of the Pro-Bowl but I've never bought in to the idea that they should cancel the Pro-Bowl.

Well, I've bought in now. It's become a farce. Just pick a "Pro-Bowl" team -- send them all on a vacation to Hawaii, and be done with it.

The NFL Pro Bowl may not have been pretty, but it was popular on TV.

The Pro Bowl drew an 8.6 rating when it was televised on Fox Sunday night. That was up 8% from last year's 7.7 rating on ESPN.

The NFC defeated the AFC 55-41 in a sloppy game played in Honolulu on Sunday.

It drew 13.4 million viewers, which made it the most-watched NFL all-star game since 1997.

It was the most-watched program on TV on Sunday night.

The NFL switched the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl last year when it was played in Miami.

To answer your question (instead of ranting against the Pro Bowl), the overall performance of the Cowboys was OK ... nothing spectacular.

Neither defensive line really tried to rush the passer, so Ratliff didn't get pressure and Gurode didn't have to do much as a blocker. Ware, when moved down to the line, did go around the right side pretty fierce (probably because he was salivating over getting a chance to rush instead of be a cover linebacker), but pulled up pretty quick instead of going after the passer.

Ratliff did bat a pass that ended up being intercepted by London Fletcher. Ware made a fourth-down stop in coverage, although the receiver he was covering was open. (His coverage overall appeared to be solid.) Austin caught an out pass for a first down, but was underthrown on a go route on which he had the corner beat. McBriar had the monster punt that was mentioned, but never had to punt again. (The snaps he caught as the holder made me appreciate Ladouceur even more than I do.)

Witten was interviewed by Jay Glazer on the sideline about not getting any passes thrown to him, while Tony Gonzalez seemed to be getting all the pass plays at tight end. Ironically, Glazer begged his way into calling in a play that turned out to be Witten's only reception. Witten fumbled on the play but was ruled down.

what i was upset about is that last year nobody rushed....untill third down...when romo was the QB. this year nobody rushed at all, go figure

whats really funny is that it was the highest rated sports event yesterday, on a day when you had the marquee matchup in the NBA (lakers vs celtics)

I was about to share that information...I think it drew a 9.something % of audience, which is very very good. The NFL is thrilled.

It just proves what everyone already knew...people will watch football, no matter how crappy it is.

That may be just what the owners want to see going into negotiations.

The NBA sucks. Who wants to see these guys go through the motions for three quarters and then play hard for the last 5 mins? Besides it is rigged and very corrupt.
